Must Watch Hotties At The Toronto Film Fest 2011 Part 1

Antonia Campbell-Hughes in “The Other Side Of Sleep” and “Albert Nobbs”

 alt=

As one of her movies, the arthouse “Bright Star” implies, Antonia Campbell-Hughes is all of that, with an acting caliber that’s bound to enchant every time. Two of her films are gracing this year’s Toronto Film Fest; “The Other Side Of Sleep” sees her melancholic interpretation of a sleepwalker expected to receive rave reviews, having already made a sterling impression at Cannes. Antonia also returns to the period drama genre as a lovely young maid in “Albert Nobbs” opposite Glenn Close, unmistakably reveling in this must-see gender bending role. In fact, Glenn’s varied career choices is a point of admiration for Antonia who herself has amassed a diverse body of work. This Irish beauty is no stranger to horror (truthfully absorbing in “The Task”) nor comedy where she rose to fame in British series “Lead Balloon”. Utilizing her own personal experiences, this fashionably delicate actress has crafted richly layered characters we can’t help but pine for!

Greta Gerwig in “Damsels In Distress”

 alt=

She came out of nowhere to ascent the throne of indie queen-dom and former playwright turned in-demand actress Greta Gerwig has not looked back ever since. From partaking in sex scenes and nudity with Ben Stiller in “Greenburg” to sparkling in the micro-budget “Hannah Takes The Stairs”, Greta thrives on having an understated allure yet she has an unbridled radiance that’s impossible to ignore. If one has to make comparisons, she could just be the new Chloë Sevigny! You’ll be smitten with her in “Damsels In Distress” as Violet, the leader of a clique of college girls who decide to teach the new girl in school their socially acceptable ways….could just be this generation’s “Clueless” by the sound of it! Even at 26, she’s utterly believable as a demure teen. In Hollywood, there’s always room for another Greta to take our breath away! The very reality that Greta continues to grace films regardless of its scale speaks of her authenticity as an artist.

Mary Birdsong in “The Descendents”

 alt=

Saw a pic of Mary Birdsong in a frilly bikini and while she’s obviously a minx, Mary manages to inject humor when describing how revealing it was. She may be self-deprecating of her sexiness but we all know she’s a turn on and not just physically! If you’ve read the interviews she’s given, here is a lady with a magnetism of the cerebrally amusing kind. There’s one word that rings true when articulating how eclectic Mary Birdsong is and that’s FUN! It’s as if she’s blessed with that saucy irreverence and punchy humor that’s clearly relatable. Let’s admit Mary was a huge reason why “Reno 911″ became an addictive show thanks to her irrepressible comic timing as Deputy Cheresa Kimball, the alleged closet lesbian story arc being one of the highlights for fans. In the drama “The Descendents”, will she go all serious in those scenes with that handsome devil George Clooney?? It’s a no-brainer that Mary has got us hooked on that wacky yet endearing personality of hers.

Juno Temple in “Killer Joe”

 alt=

She’s been christened A Bright Young Thing, one in the next generation of British actresses destined for stardom and already Juno Temple has her indie cred status cemented. There seems to be a wave of starlets from the British Isles that grows unabated and Juno is bearing all the hallmarks of a top talent. Building a reputation for frank, sensitive portrayals of fragile women as recently seen in “Kaboom” and “Little Birds”. Venturing into the mainstream somewhat, she’s also been roped into Christopher Nolan’s newest Batman venture “The Dark Knight Rises” as Holly Robinson, who will eventually become Catwoman’s protege. Before that, she’s gets dragged into a dangerous liaison of the murderous kind in “Killer Joe” with Matthew McConaughey as the titular assassin who demands collateral in the shape of Juno’s teen character. She’s as potent onscreen as her wild, frizzy blonde hair that’s often been called flower-child enticing!

Beth Grant in “The Artist”

 alt=  alt=

It’s criminal that an actress such as the stature of Beth Grant was left out for the trailer of the movie “The Artist” (above). Granted it’s a supporting role for her but surely her accomplishments over the years warrant a tease of her character at the very least…come on now, The Coen Brothers did sign her up for “No Country For Old Men”…she is that amazing! There’s already people who have seen “The Artist” that are leaving plaudits on her Facebook Page as I am writing this which she totally deserves. One of the most under-rated character actresses, even when the material is not up to scratch, Beth finds a way to rise above and deliver fascinating albeit at times kooky performances. Some of the pivotal scenes in a cult classics such as “Donnie Darko” and the dramedy “Little Miss Sunshine” ensure she’s there to be memorable no matter how fleeting that may be. Away from the camera, Beth is immensely witty and funny, traits that continue to make her one to adore for the longest time.

Fall In Love With These Screen Sirens At The Tribeca Film Festival 2011

Antonia Campbell Hughes in “Lotus Eaters”

 alt=

One of the most spellbinding talents to come out of Ireland is of course Antonia Campbell-Hughes. Recently nominated for the IFTA Rising Star Award, she shows us just why as the conflicted Alice living a life of excess in “Lotus Eaters”. Shot in Black and White, Enter the world of disenfranchised youth who embody daily overindulgence. Antonia is as compelling as the movie’s premise and it won’t be long before this elfin-like scene-stealer is talked in the same breath as Carey Mulligan.

Margo Stilley in “The Trip”

 alt=

Next to Chloë Sevigny’s blowjob scene in “Brown Bunny”, Margot Stilley’s explicit scenes in “9 Songs” rank as some of the most hardcore in mainstream cinema. Engaging in graphic sex involving penetration on film got the world talking and while it’s not “9 Songs Part 2″ at this year’s Tribeca Fest, “The Trip” sees her starring alongside acclaimed comedians Rob Brydon and Steve Coogan. Her graceful beauty belies the fact that Margot is an impactful actress with an absorbing rawness.

Lynn Collins in “Angels Crest”

 alt=

Underrated? Yes! Highly Desirable?? Hell Yeah! From “True Blood” to “Wolverine” (as the memorable Kayla Silverfox), her subtle allure is more than capable of setting pulses racing! That will probably happen now that a picture of her in lingerie from the indie “Angels Crest” has surfaced..:) She plays an alcoholic mum and even in a disheveled state, she manages to look gorgeous! Finding out that she once lived in Singapore, my hometown before carving a Hollywood career ensures that I feature her here.

Noel Thurman in “The Good Doctor”

 alt=  alt=

While we’ve being kept in the dark about Orlando Bloom’s “The Good Doctor” (where’s the trailer??) at least I could count on Noel Thurman to divulge just a little. She’s in the thriller as Mandy Claypool and while everything is super secret, Noel did disclose that Orlando’s character is much different then you have ever seen him! I can’t stress enough how beautiful and accessible Noel is; A hottie on the cusp of stardom especially since she’s a major player in this year’s “The Witches Of Oz 3D”.

Christina Hendricks in “Detachment”

 alt=

The mere mention of “Mad Men” starlet Christina Hendricks would reverberate excitingly anywhere in the world. Her bountiful cleavage has got many people under a trance…”Are Those Real?” questions regularly crop up but one can’t deny her feminine wilds are absolutely tantalizing. She’s the lead in “Detachment” as a woman who changes how Adrien Brody’s character views his job as an educator. “Hot For Teacher” comes to mind as how we all wish Christina worked at our offices..:)

Julin & Jennifer Blanc in “Puncture”

 alt=  alt=

Julin is the Sexy Texas Scream Queen who has made quite a name for herself in several indie horror flicks. Blonde Bombshell Jennifer Blanc is a headliner in a string of riveting films such as “The Victim” and “The Divide” this year. Together they’re starring in the legal drama “Puncture” in what looks like “Erin Brokovich” meets “Street Kings” alongside Chris Evans, Captain America himself! While both their roles are sketchy (yet again no trailer!), the duo should be drenched in adulation.

Vera Farmiga in “Higher Ground”

 alt=

Vera Farmiga played supporting roles for the best part of a decade but she’s arrived in a big way! With “Source Code” doing well and potential hits in “Henry’s Plan” (with Keanu Reeves) as well as religious drama “Higher Ground” which she directed, Vera has become this delightful enigma. A non-conformist by Hollywood standards, the intelligent beauty gravitates towards challenging projects which she admits female talents should be given more of….Vera’s an Indie Queen With A Lot Of Heart!

Tribeca Hottie Special: British Sex Symbol Katrena Rochell

 alt=

Why isn’t Sex Bomb KATRENA ROCHELL in the running as the newest Bond Girl in the upcoming instalment of the James Bond Franchise?? The way she caresses the hand gun in the photo (above) reinforces that she can be as intensely bewitching as Honor Blackman who famously played Pussy Galore. It’s been a while since we got to salivate over a British Vixen (the most recent being Rosumand Pike) opposite Super Spy lothario James and sassy KATRENA should be given the licence to thrill. She most definitely enthralled in “Kick Ass” as the voluptuous junkie packing those huge knockers! Don’t you wish that scene lingered on for a while longer…;) If you want someone Sin-sational to heat up the Tribeca Film Festival, KATRENA would definitely be your gal. She’s starring alongside fellow prodigious talent from the British Isles Antonia-Campbell Hughes in the lush black and white existential drama “Lotus Eaters” focusing on the wasteland of youth excesses. There’s no shying away from the fact that KATRENA has such a titillating body and one of the most flawless derrières in the biz. Read up on the screen siren at the KATRENA ROCHELL OFFICIAL SITE

 alt=  alt=

She was also par excellence in BBC drama “The Last Days of Lehman Brothers” (above). It’s a joy to network with actresses as it was KATRENA’s friend Michele Morrow who introduced me to her scorching seductiveness..:) KATRENA herself has been in several horror movies most notably in “Psychosis” where she was creatively involved as the producer. Somehow today her sensuality reminded me of Amanda Bearse from the classic “Fright Night”. While Brit cutie Imogen Poots (taking over as Amy Peterson) is looking to be a great prospect in the remake, KATRENA would have added a different dimension of sauciness….well she is a certified VAMP with a naughty twinkle in her eye and a propensity to play madcap characters. Tastily intoxicating, she’s as close to a real-life FEMME FATALE as you can get; Move over Britney! It’s KATRENA’s turn to shine! This is what the yummy brunette has to say in support of her fellow actresses: “I try to see the good in all.” Now that to me is Sexiness Personified.

Hot Actress #432 – Antonia Campbell-Hughes: Sizzling Cutie

 alt=  alt=

Highly sought-after actress ANTONIA CAMPBELL-HUGHES is one fine renaissance woman, a Belle de Jour who is breathtaking as an actress, model, fashion designer and also provided vocals for indie rock band Babyshambles. It’s an honor to feature my very first Irish actress who has been majorly impressive in every role she’s undertaken. With the horror flick ‘THE TASK’ on the horizon, ANTONIA will no doubt enthrall as a reality show contestant who gets more than she bargained for in a haunted jail. AFTERDARK films have a habit of introducing the most talented and buzzworthy young actresses in the business although ANTONIA is already a starlet in her own right, acclaimed for playing manipulative brat Sam in hit sitcom Lead Balloon. Already one of the brightest prospects in the UK, it’s only a matter of time before she’s stirring audiences Stateside. Her film work is varied and glowingly splendid, having taken on gritty roles as a stripper, junkie and even a terrorist on ‘SPOOKS’. Her willowy beauty, sylphlike features and pleasing accessibility makes for a positively compelling watch..:)

There’s a cool factor about her as evident from her many incarnations onscreen in her fantastic reel (above) and if you’re not smitten by her Irish accent, then she’ll tug at your heartstrings with her sterling performances. ANTONIA was also a scene-stealer in the romantic Brit drama ‘BRIGHT STAR’ and will no doubt shine even more in the films she’s headlining. She is a winner, a trend setter known for her artistic leanings as well as her understated wit. If there’s one gorgeous lady to set your heart on then let it be ANTONIA CAMPBELL-HUGHES, a top-notch talent of exquisite quality.
