MARITA GOMSRUD is a stunning Norwegian up and comer with a phenomenal comeliness we know to be fervently adored. I love how she regards herself as a creative artistic free spirit and this Scandinavian beauty emanates such sweetness, it’s a big part of why she’s mesmerizing. Her role in “Sementemala” is one of youthful beguilement and as Annie the heroine of the feature, she nails the virginal sparkle of her character. She’s also appeared alongside Troian Bellisario in “Pleased To Meet You”, a dramedy which had limited release in Germany last year. As most in Asia already know, famed for her turn as Spencer Hastings in “Pretty Little Liars”, Troian was in Singapore accompanying her boyfriend Patrick Adams from “Suits”. With Troian already an established star, the ebullient MARITA could soon be following in her footsteps and would certainly be welcomed in my hometown if she decides to come.
Besides acting, MARITA is actively pursuing her modeling career where she has twice graced the pages of Seventeen Magazine. One can never stop emphasizing the finest aspects of onscreen darlings and the perky CHANTEL FLANDERS is indeed a burgeoning talent. You may have seen her in the comedy feature “Vamp U” as Lorainne, the prissy Sorority Girl in charge who will cross path with an out-of-control vampire played by Julie Gonzalo. Julie’s character Chris is actually the creation of an impotent vampire (Yup, he can’t seem to bare his fangs) who unwittingly creates a bloodsucker who unleahses hell on campus. Check out CHANTEL’s reel (above) and watch Julie give her a bite in rather brutal fashion!. Wow! That must have been so fun to film being so neck-to-neck close with Julie. As we know Julie is a mega-star thanks to her being a leading lady on Dallas and the exposure CHANTEL is getting from the release of “Vamp U” may just gain buzz for the lovely blonde. CHANTEL deserves a spot in the limelight and her pleasant nature will go a long way in getting her treasured by viewers.
When I first told her of my intention to have her as a dazzler on this blog, she was genuinely magnanimous. So often we don’t see this endearing side of actresses and being gracious is something I envision CHANTEL having for a long time. She’s also an adroit comedienne and stars in the 11-episode web series “Crash Pad” where the humorous set pieces are entirely up to the improv skills of the actors. If digital is the current wave in comedy then having CHANTEL engage us with her sprightly presence while dispensing the laughs is a joy! It’s so cool to be funny and CHANTEL does have the sparkle to make her the jewel in our eyes.

To be fascinating is divine and MITTITA BARBER has plenty of crave-worthy facets to spark off interest. Take for example her name MITTITA which is not only unique, it has a sexy ring to it. She does get to display her foxy side in “Crowsnest” which has been featured at SundanceNOW and touted to be a stirring vision of the macabre. One thing is certain there’s no stopping Found Footage Horror and the hot women gracing these sub-genre of terror! MITTITA shines as Brooke who is somewhat of a slut and even if this was a common archetype in the genre, she delivers an engaging performance. The shaky camera work will always be there yet there’s always something new to entertain viewers in terms of plotlines or just that we get to appreciate a Fresh Face such as MITTITA.
Somehow her hazel eyes seem to resonate with a soulful charm and who doesn’t love an actress who radiates vulnerability onscreen. Although she was rather more potent on the popular hit TV series “Supernatural” as a creature called Arachne who have abilities similar to those of spiders, trapping their victims in deadly webs. While MITITTA is gaining prominence in indie features, she should be on everyone’s radar for she could grow from indie horror darling to desirable upcoming talent.

She’s fast gaining buzz thanks to her part in the “Silver Linings Playbook” as Nikki starring opposite none other than Bradley Cooper as his ex wife! From what I’ve heard she partakes in a very saucy scene which should add even more heat to proceedings. Guess Jennifer Lawrence is not the only babe in this offbeat romantic comedy which recently won the People’s Choice Award at TIFF 2012. Just by looking at her, one can deduce that BREA has an inviting smile in keeping with her charming personality. If you’re looking for a dedicated talent with the affable effervescence, BREA BEE is an obvious choice.

It’s fascinating when an immensely gorgeous actress goes against type and emerges thoroughly likable. Katherine Norland does just that and more in the hilarious short “Wordless”. Her transformation to middle-age woman to get into character as Penelope Jones, a lonely middle aged woman trawling for excitement on the web via a Scrabble-like game is amazing. Her ability to do physical comedy without being stiff makes her enchanting to watch as she channels her inner dorkness in the comedy. Don’t miss her in “Wordless” on Sep 29th at 3:30pm and Sep 30th at 5pm. It is a part of the “For Shorts and Giggles” screening.

You have got to love the twitter profile of LULU BRUD which describes her in a nutshell: Actress, writer, producer and Shape Shifter. Note the last embodiment of her craft where LULU has always thrive, effortlessly played a host of characters. Her latest film is a story of pain, loss and love entitled Cherry Waves and sees her enveloped in a lesbian romance. Set against the world of underground street we see 2 women with differing backgrounds coming together for a lifelong passion and for each other. One of the more intense roles she’s done yet expect her to be a knockout and catch the eye.

Just as she proves in “Blind”, Jolie Jenkins can prove to be a welcome distraction we would love to know. In the short film, this cutie does indeed captivate a man who is waiting for his blind date at a coffee shop and becomes ‘The One’ he’s always craved in a dream woman. Jolie is definitely someone who is so irresistibly pleasing, there’s no excuse not to feel enamored. Recently a string of roles on TV in shows such as “The Exes”, “Body Of Proof” and “Criminal Minds” would have put her on the ascendancy. All i can say is the signed autograph she sent me from LA is going to get even more valuable…:)

The reason we so often covet indie darlings is because of their innateness to be different. Individualism has become an acquired taste and Angela Trimbur has a magnetic quirkiness deserving of adulation. She’s been lauded as a comedian, actor, dancer, writer, and all around smile creator. The short film “Love and Germophobia” will be another example of her scene-stealing loveliness. However, her most highly anticipated appearance will surely be on the upcoming Season 6 of “Californication” next year. For now we’ll be continually fed on a steady diet of the memorably funky gal Angela Trimbur.

I first saw Amanda in “The Myth Of The American Sleepover” and was awe-struck. Then she went and appeared on the hit show “Mad Men” cementing her status as a hot newcomer to watch. Now she returns to her indie roots in “Angela Wright” as Courtney, the classmate of the lead character who’s having issues with the notion of cheating on her exams. I bet Amanda will take on the role of instigator in the drama and not of the sweetheart this time around. No matter, this alabaster-skin actress has the willowy appeal many have already found to be enticing which means we’ll be perpetually returning to watch her onscreen.

A perennial favorite on magazines across the globe such as GQ South Africa and FHM Denmark, she’s a vixen from head to toe. She is a regular on the Actress Obsession Blog and with sound reason for the ebullience of Abby Wathen knows no bounds be it on or off screen. Engaging and pleasingly watchable, she’s more than capable of portraying the depth required across genres. In “She, Who Excels In Solitude”, Abby takes on leading lady duties as Nora Hansen, a nurse who meets Ms. Johnson, a civilian pilot during NASA’s clandestine testing of 25 female astronaut trainees. Her role is one where she’s an expectant mother of an unwanted child who as a result has her dreams to become a physician dashed coinciding with her new companion’s growing aspirations. This cutie’s all-round charms are destined to be perceptibly fawned over…:)

Get to know the rising star that is Jaimi Paige who by know should be on everyone’s radar after impressing first on “The Mentalist” and the festival favourite “The Last King Blood”. While we still can’t get hold of the trailer revealing some juicy insight into her latest feature “Jehovah’s Badass”, this has the makings of a impressive comedy. It’s the journey of young Jehovah’s Witness decides turning park and realizes it takes more than an anti-establishment subculture to save the world. While there’s scant news on what capacity Jaimi will partake in “Jehovah’s Badass”, it’s certain she’s the sweetheart who will be coveted in due time. If a smile is worth thousands of affection then Miss Jaimi has one so rapturous.

Acknowledging new talents is something I’m passionate about and JENNIFER ROBYN JACOBS is a gal who could turn out to be a future indie darling. With her pixie hair and demure features, JENNIFER’s desirability is obvious. Even in the grainy scenes from her film “100 Ghost Street: The Return of Richard Speck”, one can pick out how photogenic she is onscreen. She plays Jen who is part of a TV Crew investigating a paranormal incident at the infamous townhouse where Richard Speck slaughtered several women. As a ghost hunter of sorts, JENNIFER projected a sense of believability and excel in the suspenseful moments up till the final reel. So as not to divulge anything, I urge you to watch the movie to know her fate! The found footage genre never seems to cease amazing the ever-growing fan base.
Found it strange that IMDB has stopped its Fresh Faces Of The Week segment but that leaves a nice opportunity for me to heap praise on up and coming actresses like JENNIFER. You can also keep up with the latest updates at the JENNIFER ROBYN JACOBS OFFICIAL SITE. She will soon appear in a tense drama “Threading Needles” about inter-racial love as the paramour of a young African man. Cultural prejudices and the hard-hitting reality of forbidden love is explored from a fresh yet truthful context. Great to see JENNIFER in a heartfelt role and there’s plenty more to come from this exquisite newcomer.
