Cannes Film Festival 2013 Spotlight: Rising Starlet Jessica Lemon Wilkinson

 alt=  alt=

Yet again a Southern actress is steadily growing as an actress of blossoming ability and JESSICA LEMON WILKINSON has all the makings of a burgeoning performer to take note of. We already know the James Franco starrer, “As I Lay Dying” which is a take on the 1930 classic by Faulkner is gathering hype by the minute. In all likelihood, so shall the female cast inherit the love as well. JESSICA does star with luminaries such as Beth Grant (who is the central figure of the drama) and Ahna O’Reilly, making it a trio of adept women who can bring emotional depth to telling of a story. As the director, James Franco must have personally had an inkling that they were the right choices to be in the movie and after the premiere, he will be proven right.

Theatre is where JESSICA honed her skills to enchant viewers where critics have praised not only her presence on stage but also her singing. It’s about moving people and she’s put in her due diligence as someone whose work we need to admire. Remember to check out her demo reel at the JESSICA LEMON WILKINSON OFFICIAL SITE. 2013 could well be the breakthrough year for her and the juicy roles are sure to follow suit.

Cannes Film Festival 2013 Spotlight: Rising Starlet Misty Upham

 alt=  alt=

Stars of tomorrow are certainly emerging at CANNES and MISTY UPHAM is one who is on song to steal our hearts with a series of upcoming roles. Most significant of all, she will be at CANNES walking down the red carpet with leading man Benicio Del Toro for the premiere of “Jimmy P”. Buzz is swirling around for this film that deals with loss from a Native American perspective and surely eyes are on MISTY who in the press photos can be seen in scenes with Benicio. Apparently MISTY’s character JANE has a romantic liaison with Benicio’s Jimmy P which will be talked about by many. In fact, she has been a scene stealer before in the critically acclaimed hit “Frozen River” alongside Melissa Leo and it would be fitting if she garnered the plaudits this time around. Having been nominated for best supporting actress at the Independent Spirit Awards for embodying Lila Littlewolf in “Frozen River”.

As Lila the widowed Mohawak mum looking to reclaim her son from the mother-in-law while smuggling immigrants, MISTY was a revelation and showcased how great she is at delivering on conflicting emotions. She was able to sustain the attention of audiences who must have been fascinated with the multi-layered role MISTY so successfully made believable. Slated to star with the legendary Meryl Streep in “August: Osage County,” a dark comedy based on a play, things are looking very rosy indeed. It’s a key role for MISTY as Johnna Monevata, a Cheyenne woman hired as a live-in housekeeper by the Weston family whom has demanding matriarch Violet Weston of course played by Meryl Streep. So start admiring this most graceful Native American talent certain to make waves the world over!

Cannes Film Festival 2013 Spotlight: Indie Princess Hollis Witherspoon

 alt=  alt=

HOLLIS WITHERSPOON is certainly an upcoming talent to be excited about, more so since she stars in “One Last Time” which screens at the Short Film Corner at Cannes Film Festival 2013. What we can envision that it’s not just the high profile flicks getting all the attention as there’s an ever growing pool of short films deserving of recognition. By virtue of this so shall the actresses in them be looked upon as noteworthy talents. With her attractively, large eyes which I’ve come to know as being called neotenous features (a characteristic of youth), HOLLIS projects a lasting and young appeal onscreen. Although her role in “One Last Time” rides on a nonchalant flirtiness, she’s spot on with the mannerisms. This is achieved in part to the formulation of her character by constantly observing the traits of people around her. She rates Parkey Posey highly who is incidentally one of my idols.

She also once said in an interview that the biggest allure of acting for her is in the challenge. It’s never easy getting under the skin of an intended character for any actress and yet HOLLIS has gamely delivered as authentic a work as she has so often done. She’s also been active on the theatre scene with acclaim as a member of the Old Kent Road Theatre. She does have an innate fearlessness allowing her to explore different psyches. Watch for her to shine even more in the coming months!

Cannes Film Festival 2013 Spotlight: Rising Starlet Velinda Godfrey

 alt=  alt=

With Cannes 2013 only days away, the focus is on emerging women of the screen and VELINDA GODFREY is someone we’ll be adoring soon enough. Whether in France or the world over, she’ll be celebrated as her film “Adonis” is screening at the American Pavilion Emerging Filmmaker Showcase at this year’s Cannes! With its innovative use of green-screen, we’re taken into a colorful toy world with the premise of cuteness by way of Adonis the dog who turns into the center of attraction. The other enchanter of the short film is of course VELINDA who plays JENNI and as the director David Dibble himself readily admits she’s a honey; ‘Every Girl Here Is Beautiful’ being the effusive words by David which is a clear reference to the captivating VELINDA. There’s also Ernie Hudson adding comic flavor to this most intriguing of stories.

There’s every reason to drop by the VELINDA GODFREY OFFICIAL SITE and being smitten with her will come thereafter. We clearly put the cutest actresses on a pedestal and VELINDA has all the right facets to keep us entranced. Those who are avid viewers would have seen her in “The Truth About Angels” which also starred Candice Accola of “The Vampire Diaries” fame. It wouldn’t surprise me if the very pretty VELINDA attains a similar level of fame in a relatively short span of time. Seeing how “Adonis” is being well-received at so many film festivals, she’s set to be in the limelight.

Hotties On Film and DVD – Apr 27th

Today April 27th is my birthday so why not celebrate this momentous occasion by featuring some of the most enchanting women to grace the DVD & Film Worlds. Who knows I might just be watching one of their films on DVD at the Birthday Party!

1.Rae Latt in “Blood Type: Unknown”

 alt=  alt=

- Thanks to the enchanting Miss Rae, I’ve got a look at her intriguingly poised upcoming feature “Blood Type:Unknown” which has an interesting mystique surrounding the plot.
- The film is screening at the Newport Beach Film Festival 2013 and she plays Jean Landale, a mom who has to send her only daughter off to college!
- Known for her roles on TV in “Criminal Minds” and “The Office”, she’s currently amassing an impressive body of work on the indie scene.

2. Megan Duffy in “Maniac”

 alt=  alt=

- Her memorable performance in “Maniac” as Lucie, one of the early victims of Psychopath Frank (Elijah Wood) is delightfully saucy.
- So is her photoshoot for iheartgirls.com (above) in her sexy kitty-like costume that fits her fun personality to a tee.
- She exudes a charismatic foxiness that certifies her as a bonafide screen vixen.

3. Sarah Deakins in “The Mark”

 alt=  alt=

- Sarah was one of the first actresses from Canada I got to know when i first started out the blog and you can see why so many will be obsess with her.
- Exceptional beautiful on film, television and print, she’s also built a adoring fan-base thanks to her stints on popular sci-fi TV shows such as Stargate.
- Her ability to reach people and get them involve in the story is amazing so catch her at her beguiling best in action thriller “The Mark” which has been released on DVD.

Rising Starlet: Parisa Fakhri

 alt=  alt=

Undeniably beautiful with an effusive exotic appeal, PARISA FAKHRI warrants an outpouring of fondness no matter where we spot her. Many will be able to display their affection since she’s actually at SXSW promoting her film “Good Night” which is yet another interesting take on mortality. This tells the shifting of emotions at a birthday party after a revelation of a possible demise from the birthday girl herself. While Parisa has been active on TV, appearing in popular shows such as “Suburgatory”, “Make It Or Break It” and “Castle”, she’s just as admirable on the indie scene as well as on the web. That’s 3 platforms where viewers can appreciate the wonders of the vivacious PARISA. Add to that, she has been the voice behind Bra/Bulla in Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball GT.

Of Iranian descent, Dallas native PARISA has a luminosity about her, what with her olive skin being so fetching. Onscreen, she can be subtle and she can also be engagingly forthright which bodes well for her future ahead in the industry. Count ourselves lucky to see the fantastic women such as PARISA being unveiled to adoring eyes at film festivals around the world and I can only hope this would happen in Asia soon. Meanwhile let’s appreciate what she has given us via the roles she has essayed so pleasingly…:)

Hot Comedienne: Ruby Wendell

 alt=  alt=

With such a lusciously sweet face, RUBY WENDELL is definitely one of the cutest actresses we’ll be earnestly looking out for at SXSW 2013. Her supporting role in the grim feature “Snap” which has Nikki Reed as its leading lady does look intriguing what with the dubstep DJ scene being the setting of this tale. Check out her reel (above) for the scene where her character Nadine invites Wendy (played by Nikki) for a girl’s night out. Expect Ruby and Nikki to be thereabouts in Austin, Texas for the premiere. Known for being a comic thanks to her appearance in NBC comedy reality show “Last Comic Standing” and a host of indie films, she shifts gears to be part of the dark obsession that’s swirling in “Snap”. Once again, just like many of the talents at this year’s edition of SXSW, RUBY has the flexibility to handle varying context while remaining an enduring sweetheart.

Nice to see the RUBY WENDELL OFFICIAL SITE has a stalk me section and RUBY’s enchanting desirability can surely lead to feelings of avidity for her. Whether she’s a blonde or brunette, RUBY is a picture of effervescent cuteness and since I’m known for having a penchant for blondes, I must say she has similarly delicate features to say British starlet Rosamund Pike. She likens herself to be the girl next door with some attitude which we do find fascinating and indeed establish her as someone to be enthused over.
