With her captivating smile and toned figure, BONI YANAGISAWA can be regarded as having a sexiness certain to garner affection. This Pan-Asian hottie is a tough cookie who has invigorated the world of Film and TV as a stuntwoman. She is steadily growing as an actress too, recently starring as co-flight attendant Camelia Satou alongside Denzel Washinton, one of the cinematic greats in “Flight”. It’s a role that could raise her profile and refreshingly there will always be a place for women with the hard as nails dynamism. You too can be witness to the essence of a strong woman at the BONI YANAGISAWA OFFICIAL SITE; BONI’s bio showcasing her accomplishments in the action genre. I’m in awe of how she’s handled deadly weaponry such as katas, swords and naginata, a traditional Japanese sword that resembles a pole.
Just like her fellow stuntwomen, BONI and her peers deserve recognition for constantly putting their bodies on the line. I so happen to experience a little physical abuse at a place called Zen Martial Arts last week and even though it was a FIT Box Training, the cardio-vascular workout was intense. Props to BONI for her delightful vigor onscreen having stunt-doubled for Maggie Q and even Troian Bellisario from “Pretty Little Liars”! One of her upcoming projects is “Steampunk Samurai Biker Chick” and what a killer title it is…;) Boni is kicking-starting a fascination that’s going to linger long in our hearts.
ANNIE BOON is an award-winning actress with an expansive radiance that’s unmissable. The Season 3 premiere of “Hung” has Annie in some scenes that will make some blush whereas I like to think it’s perfectly natural to have them in a show that deals with gigolo sex and that famed well-endowed pecker. As they say, the provocative series “Hung” does hit all the ‘Hard’ spots…hehe. ‘Pimpette’ Jane Adams so eloquently reveal there’s more than a fair share of Penis Talk on tap in each episode but we all know that it’s the saucy ladies that are the main draw. I especially love this quote from her: “Every character I have portrayed has something of me in them”. Annie’s scenes with Thomas Jane borders on the raunchy yet part of her has to be sensual in order to flesh out those moments. Bravo to Annie for having the wherewithal and absolute professionalism in every role she takes on. Having appeared in comedies “Middle Men” starring Luke Wilson and Will Ferrel’s “Everything Must Go”, she does have the knack to put a grin on our faces, her beaming smile will have you in wonderment.
Annie has been in a string of independent films and fans will be over the moon seeing her alongside Ellen Muth of “Dead Like Me” fame in the upcoming film “Nephila”. So keep up to date with the latest at the ANNIE BOON OFFICIAL WEBSITE for she’s an undeniable charmer. I was pleasantly surprised when she drop me a message to keep her posted on my own successes which is a rare deed indeed and led to me being even more enthralled with her. A gutsy, head turner from reel to real life, she sure does have a killer bod and the multi-genre talents to boot. Show some Ginger love for ANNIE as she could very well be the next obsession after Mad Men’s Sex Bomb Christina Hendricks or even Julianne Moore. Take it from me ANNIE can be just as voluptuously enticing…:)
MANOUSH stands on her own as a character actress in Horror with an unabashed attitude who has over the years embodied villainous personas with distinction. You won’t be seeing her as the victim in her 40+ films instead unrestrained depravity is the order of the day in MANOUSH’s performances thus far. Her wicked ways as the dominatrix and snuff filmmaker Olga in the much talked about “The Super” is a descend into immoral pleasures, i.e. the act of killing for profit. She excelled as the symbol of domineering feminity, reminiscent of her brilliant turn as Lady Boss Madame Fabienne in the violent “La Petite Mort” who has a bloodlust for hacking off human parts including a dude’s manhood. While gorehounds revel in the terror of the movies she’s been in, it’s the atmosphere of foreboding created by this Swiss-born German actress that’s ultimately resounding.
Humbly unpretentious and deeply passionate for horror herself, MANOUSH is a talented lady who audiences can most definitely relate to. Let me tell you she loves to have a bout of cussing once in a while and not averse to laying bare her opinions on current affairs. Case in point her grouses with the socio-political climate on Facebook, giving her two cents worth regarding the Southwest Airlines/ Leisha Hailey girl-on-girl kiss incident…can you believe Leisha got kicked off the plane for that! MANOUSH can sure rumble with the best and her straight-rule, tell it like she sees it grievances on worldly issues is genuinely remarkable…makes me wanna rid the universe of injustices too!! Lauded as a genre icon, she’s exhibiting a unique depth not only on celluloid but as a person and conversationalist. If you’re looking for an authenticity in a performer then MANOUSH delivers it full on.
She may be the new kid on the block in the popular web series “Anyone But Me” but in Season 3, MARISSA SKELL is in the illustrious company of Digital Vixens such as Rachael Hip-Flores and Nicole Pacent. MARISSA is one yummy starlet with fans of the series be it on Hulu, Youtube and pretty much everywhere on the net acknowledging her hotness. The best part is we get to enjoy the sumptuous blonde anytime, anywhere 24/7 and that is essential especially since our lives can get a little busy. Tapping on the shift in social norms in the US as we as people are beginning to accept our gay bethren. After all aren’t we all children of the world…do we not bleed when we are cut? “Anyone But Me” has a huge following precisely because it’s a celebration of young love and that life is not about fitting into what society wants us to be. MARISSA portrays Carey, the new love interest of street smart Aster played beautifully by Nicole Pacent. Carey is the artistic soul that provides much needed comfort to Aster’s love troubles and becomes the yin to Aster’s yang. Obviously we’ll get our dose of girl-on-girl kissing scenes and the chemistry between MARISSA and Nicole are intimately spot on when they’re in the throes of passion. There’s no better time than show our affection for this comely sweetheart by visiting the MARISSA SKELL OFFICIAL SITE.
One of MARISSA’s grittiest performances came in the episode of “Criminal Minds” as a victim of torture by electrocution dished out by the insane son of notorious serial killer “The Butcher”. She had me gripped in such an unnerving way, I’m bound to praise her dramatic chops. Previously, she had impressively fleshed out a similar state of duress in another scene from “The Mentalist”. She’s come a long since her reality TV days on “Scream Queens”, developing into a coveted, multi-genre talent. She’s proven that hard work and honing your craft in the business does indeed pay off! Oh and don’t forget her pleasant personality that’s so infectious to a fan like me. I for one can’t wait to do an interview with MARISSA after this feature which she has so kindly indicated to me she will accede to.
SHANLEY CASWELL is the very fetching Star of groundbreaking “Detention” which transcends being just a smart teen horror film and stands on its own two feet as a genre-bending master class. If it created a huge buzz at SXSW this year as well as constantly receiving rave reviews on the internet, the intelligent slasher is expected to shine at the SIFF Film Festival 2011 as will it’s endearing female lead SHANLEY. I’m enraptured with her kindness for doing this interview at such short notice, a reflection of her appealing accessibility that’s truly charming. Already being praised as a female version of John Cusack and spoken highly of as the stirring centerpiece of “Detention”, admiration for her is rapidly growing.
In the throes of the psychedelic pace, pop culture references and riveting sci-fi cum slasher elements of “Detention”, SHANLEY is a standout as RILEY, the human touch amid the chaos. She captures the trepidation of youth, the foreboding of terror and the thrilling face offs with the movie’s villain impeccably. Even at 18, SHANLEY has shown she is adept at delivering a solidly authentic performance which could prove to be her launchpad as a Teen Idol.
Have a good read as SHANLEY lets us in on what’s it like being the female lead of a fascinating horror film, her grueling yet fun moments during the making of “Detention” and why she has the hots for Simon Baker after working with him on “The Mentalist”.
1. Hi Shanley. You’re possibly the Final Girl in “Detention”. What’s it like being the leading lady of the slasher and playing a character that’s an outsider going through teen angst?
A: At first signing on to do Detention was exhilarating. The script was so interesting and like nothing I had ever heard about that I had to do it. Riley is a character that is a lot like any normal teenage girl: pop culture oriented, embarrassed, tormented, self centered, and opinionated.
I’ve been through all of these things growing up, like most teenagers, so it was easy to relate to her “my life is ruined” mentality. Now on the note of being the leading lady; that scared the crap out of me. Especially with working with Dane Cook, Josh Hutcherson, and Joseph Kahn all people whom I highly admire.
2. Inevitable comparisons are going to be drawn between “Detention” and the “Scream” Franchise. Can you tell us how different is your heroine Riley as opposed to Neve Campbell’s Sidney Prescott?
A: Detention has a different feel than Scream. It’s more fun and relatable to people my age in my generation. Scream was the old generations meta comedy-horror, Detention will appeal to teenagers now-a-days. That goes for Riley’s character too.
3. There’s a scene in “Detention”, reminiscent of “The Breakfast Club” (the film that made a tremendous impact) albeit more in line with the reality of youth today. As a teenager yourself, what do you think are the movie/movies that define your generation?Â
A: “Superbad”, “The Hangover” and “The Social Network” are three that come to my mind. “Superbad” and “The Hangover” are ones that we see everywhere today with quotes and clothing. “The Social Network” is one that will never be forgotten because of the event that it’s about. Facebook and social networking have defined our generation.
4. You do a lot of running trying your utmost to escape from the serial killer. How physically demanding were those scenes and what were your favorite moments from the film?
A: I actually trained before we started filming for the stunt work and the dance scenes. I had to fall a lot so I was taught how to fall properly without getting hurt. The hanging scene was the hardest because I was in a harness for about 6 to 8 hours and hanging for about 4 to 5.
I had bruises from the straps and had motion sickness by wrap time. My favorite scene to film was probably the skateboarding scene. They set up this cool contraption where the skateboard was connected to the camera so we could actually skate and and do the scene. Those were fun.
5. Just read that your first major role was on Hallmark in “Mending Fences” as a gothic teen with a sarcastic side, a complete opposite to your bubbly disposition. Why do you think actresses much prefer essaying the darker roles?
A: I think there’s a lot more complexity to playing darker roles. I’ve definitely played my fair share of bubbly roles though. I would do it more often but unfortunately some people don’t think that I have a very “bubbly” face all the time. And I……I’m also very sarcastic which turns some people off.
6. There’s plenty of haters out there unlike me of course who shows the love for actresses on a daily basis…:):) How do you deal with the critics even at your tender age?
A: I’ve been very lucky so far to not have any critics. If I did I’m pretty good at taking things in thinking about them logically, then forgetting about them later.
7.From “Bones” and “The Mentalist to “The Middle”, you’ve been gracing quite a number of TV Shows. Who has been your favorite actor and why?
A: To work with? Simon Baker form The Mentalist. He is so cool and suave. He’s got a way of making everyone smile and feel special. Plus he’s got an Australian accent! How could I not be in love with him.
8. You once said the uncertainty of the acting industry gives you a thrill. What would be your dream role?
A: My dream role is always changing. At the moment I’d love to be some badass assassin or something. I’m really into stunt heavy movies right now. I feed off of adrenaline on set, the more adrenaline I have the more focused I am and the more work I get done.
9. In Tinseltown, teen actresses are regularly in demand more so this past year so what’s next for Shanley Caswell?
A: I have no idea what’s next. The thrill of this industry is why I love it. I’m not working on anything right now but next month I could be in France filming a miniseries. You have to learn to go with the flow. Right now I’m focusing on school and studying Kinesiology.
10. Tell us the one thing that nobody will ever guess about you.
A: I love rock climbing and bungee jumping.
Thanks again for the support and the awesome questions!
We better be ready to shout her praises and make the rafters ring as DENISE GOSSETT is the very soul of the annual SHRIEKFEST. Borne out of frustration by the lack of venues to screen her very first film “Chain Of Souls”, she founded SHRIEKFEST, gained immediate success and created a phenomenon that’s been pivotal in shaping the horror genre. Now approaching it’s 11th year, the international film festival receives submissions from all over the world and continues to give accolades to the creative minds of horror and sci-fi. Call for entries is now open for the 2011 Edition at the SHRIEKFEST OFFICIAL SITE. DENISE and I share 2 things in common, we were both freaked out by “A Nightmare On Elm Street” and more significantly, we love our Women In Horror..:) I’m a rookie compared to DENISE who for me is a standout out on 3 fronts namely:
1.Being a proponent of ‘Smart Horror’ and challenging the conventional.
2.Advocating Women In Horror whether they be actresses, film-makers or writers.
3.Boosting the Horror World with her outstanding contributions behind the scenes and onscreen.
Even though she’s a mainstay of the horror scene, DENISE has appeared in popular shows such as “Zoey 101″, “Samantha Who?” and “The New Adventures Of Old Christine”. She has so kindly advanced news that she’s starring in the episode Crash and Born from Season 3 of “I Didn’t Know I Was Pregnant” on March 28th. Great timing to feature such a legendary hottie today.
An inspirational figure for many through the years, it’s invaluable that she takes time off from her busy schedule of filming on set/preparing for events to interact with overseas fans like me. Adorably enchanting in beauty and wonderfully pleasant in personality, she’s radiant on film too as evident by her appearance alongside cult favs Reggie Bannister and Doug Jones in the thriller “Carnies” about a 30′s sideshow carnival turning deadly. I can’t wait to do an exclusive interview with her but I’m saving that special moment for a future spot on my blog to fan our flames of fascination for DENISE GOSSETT, a true superstar in the eyes of horror devotees everywhere!
I’m must say I’m addicted to the thrills and scares of After Dark Horror Films and when you have a pool of amazing young performers translating the terrifying material onto the big screen, you’re swiftly hooked..:) I can’t wait to see glowing brunette MARCELLE BAER headline the After Dark Originals Entry ‘SCREAM OF THE BANSHEE’ with the Irish lore of the Banshee unleashed via an ornate box that dispels doom. Found the the trailer (above)…I have my MARCELLE BAER fix…YAY! With a sexy poster of the Banshee in crimson red (above) teasing us of what’s to come and a revered cast including genre fave Lance Henriksen and eternal cutie Lauren Holly, this has the makings of a horror classic. Meanwhile satiate yourselves with the indie swords and sandals Spartacus-like “Journey To Promethea” and even though the film was criticized, it has often been pointed out that the female cast led by Marcelle Baer were the saving grace of the fantasy; Billy Zane was way too campy for my taste!
Some of you may already know her from the parody ‘VAMPIRES SUCK’ and MARCELLE is stardom-bound especially since she’s appearing in the actioner ‘THE KIILLING GAME’ with luminaries such as Samuel L. Jackson, Kellan Lutz and Nina Dobrev of Vampire Diaries fame! A real charming young lady, her engaging cuteness and those flowing brown locks would have you falling at her feet in no time. Check out her scene from the upcoming indie ‘LETTING GO’ (above). When she bats her eyelids ever so slightly, she’s quite the dish…:) 2011 is the year we shall witness the rise of this lovely lady and a new found attraction to MARCELLE BAER..:)
