Canadian Vixen: Paula Giroday

 alt=  alt=

PAULA GIRODAY is a babe hands down and she’s about to bewitch audiences in “True Heroines”, a fascinating genre bending web series. There’s housewives with extraordinary powers, dazzling burlesque and of course those vintage hair curls which has seen its fair share of fondness. More and more, we’re seeing the popularity of all things retro explode! Perpetuating the swinging 50′s, “True Heroines” is hot on the heels of “Mad Men” as well as “Bomb Girls” and features 3 of the foxiest ladies on the web. PAULA is joined by Jovanna Huguet and Fiona Vroom, all three showcasing their enigmatic grace in such well-crafted roles. It’s nice to see them endowed with super abilities yet having to be subtle about it as they go about their existence as homely women. As Dottie Rodriguez, PAULA is enchanting as a woman of strength who is also blessed with a very cheery disposition. She also gets to flaunt her marvelous dance moves (check out Episode 3 – “For All We Know”).

PAULA has also been on several hit shows such as “Fringe”, “Once Upon A Time” and “Motive”. She is a natural at being sassy and with her being so delectably convincing on camera, there’ll be progressive admiration for her in the months ahead. She is flawless in her own sweet way and it won’t be too long before PAULA’s name is emblazoned with praises.

Sizzling Cutie: Sadie Alexandru

 alt=  alt=

Comely brunette SADIE ALEXANDRU rightly belongs in the pantheon of foxy women who are to be desired and adored. Her debut on hit series “Mad Men” as the new SCDP secretary Scarlett should by now have plenty talking. SADIE projected the right amount of sass to fit right in the pool of delectably glamorous ladies who have amassed quite a massive fanbase. In fact, I once saw an online poll revealing the top 10 hottest women on “Mad Men” and it will be fitting if the ravishing SADIE makes the list of future polls. With an upcoming appearance in Season 2 of the raunchy “Femme Fatales”, she’s could just be TV’s newest Summer Sizzler. There’s no doubt she has serious Sex Appeal!

This means a visit to the SADIE ALEXANDRU OFFICIAL SITE where you can keep up with the latest developments of her career. Whether she’s retro-liciously dolled up or gracing the red carpet in gorgeous threads, this Eastern European/Irish is a sumptuous vamp. If ever they kickstart a “Wonder Woman” remake, Miss SADIE should seriously be considered. Those curves of hers and a tinge of flirtatious charm are certainly captivating facets of this raven-haired beauty. Will we be mad for her in the coming months? The answer is a BIG YES!

Sizzling Cutie: Missy Yager

 alt=  alt=

Why wouldn’t someone as beautiful as MISSY YAGER not be surrounded by handsome men when she has such fetching features. On TV, Missy Yager caught the eye of the very much married Don Draper on the hit series “Mad Men”. Off air, she’s known as the other half of the hunky bartender from “True Blood”, Sam Trammell. Her adorability is a mixture of old-world and modern charms, allowing her to excel as the playful Sarah Beth Carson on “Mad Men” or milking the laughs on her popular web series “Faux Baby”. By the way, she’s a proud mother of twins with Sam Trammell and while she was on hiatus to raise her family, she’s already returned to television with a guest appearance on “Grey’s Anatomy”.

MISSY once remarked she wished dressing went back to the days when men looked like men and women looked like women alluding to the colorful era of the 1960s. While there’s no turning back the clock, seeing women in garter belts and pencil skirts do rank as being a bona fide tease. From her various red-carpet pics where she’s wearing an assortment of stylish dresses, it can be said MISSY does have a pretty glow about her. Some may have heard that she recently worked on the star-studded hit comedy “Friends With Kids” as a producer. Likewise many hope she returns to great form to bewitch us on the big and small screens.

Sizzling Cutie: Abby Miller

 alt=  alt=

Every day is a joy in itself when one gets to spotlight a screen honey and ABBY MILLER has the requisite demureness to awaken sentiments of ardor. With her being a Nebraska native, she’s the very first from the famed Cornhusker State to grace the Actress Obsession Blog and she’s a fetching gal indeed. Her invitingly large, brown eyes which wouldn’t be out of place in a Manga comic if ever her likeness is drawn, affirms her eye-catching accessibility. Evidently on TV ABBY shone as meth-addicted prostitute cum snitch Ellen May in Season 2 of “Justified”. Check out the memorable scene of her (above) in a wasted stupor trying her darnedest to seduce Timothy Olyphant’s straight laced U.S. Marshal Raylan Givens. By going against the grain for this gritty, disaffected part, ABBY shows she doesn’t just rely on her cutesy appeal. In fact, she even walked the fine line between sympathy and comedy in the episode “The Rejected” of “Mad Men”. Yet again, she excelled as the naive secretary Dorothy who suffers a double blow; Rejection by her boyfriend and being brought to tears at a market focus group. You can watch ABBY in that scene at the ABBY MILLER OFFICIAL SITE plus many more clips of her in fine fettle.

She’s also prolific in the commercials arena, appearing in ads for McDonald’s, Target, Dunkin’ Donuts, Domino’s and American Express. Then there’s her as fascinating vocalist of the folk-pop combo, Jen & Abby; The voice of hers soaring blissfully over the acoustic richness of the bluesy tone echoed in the melodies which have even been featured on the hit show “Gilmore Girls”! Often labeled as having a kittenish virtue and having once remarked once that her attractive eyes are money-makers, we have to agree she’s a real crowd pleaser. I’ve always placed a high premium on sweetness and so should everyone in welcoming upcoming starlet ABBY MILLER.

Rising Starlet : Bettina Bilger

 alt=  alt=

Known for being immensely accessible, BETTINA BILGER may just be the one to catch the eye as she has a recurring role in “Pan Am” which premiers this weekend. Vintage has become the hottest thing to hit TV Screens since “Mad Men” and this jet-setting new series aims to be just as sensational. The nostalgic female-centric plot lines are a welcome sight with an attractive cast who comfortably wear their sex appeal as all stewardesses often radiate. There’s a group of fresh faces such as Aussie Margot Robbie, French-Canadian Karine Vanasse as well as the fetching Bettina joining Christina Ricci and Kelli Garner, in all likelihood leaving audiences feeling as if they’re been on Cloud 9. Many must have seen the on-set photo of Bettina in a patterned red dress embodying 60s glamor and she does have the sophisticated beauty to look the part. Together with the swanky series “The Playboy Club”, retro revival is flying high!

The iconic Marilyn Monroe once said “I think that sexuality is only attractive when it’s natural and spontaneous.” and chancing upon an interview BETTINA gave, I found that she too subscribes to the spontaneity and flexibility of life. After all, she’s also a casting director and being on both sides of the fence has indeed been beneficial for her as an actress, allowing for a very meaningful insight into the casting process. BETTINA has been in several independent movies and in 2012 can be seen in the dark drama “Surviving Family” about a woman who meets a half-sister borne from her father’s infidelity. Let’s start appreciating this telegenic lady for she has every chance of being a star on the horizon.

Indie Princess: Amanda Bauer

 alt=
 alt=  alt=

“The Myth Of The American Sleepover” is the sort of moody piece that has a way of introducing glowing newcomers and one such ingénue is AMANDA BAUER. Placing the weight of the movie on such young shoulders is a brave move but AMANDA together with co-star Claire Sloma excel in their turns as teens with blossoming desires. AMANDA provides the cherished moments in “The Myth Of The American Sleepover” as Claudia, the newbie in town who has a penchant for kissing and not telling! She adeptly captures both the awkwardness and rash deviousness of her character Claudia who lives it up before the daily grind of high school is rekindled. It’s a relief to know that Young Hollywood is not all just about Selena Gomez and Taylor Swift even if we are forced fed the mass hysteria. Rising starlet Brit Marling for instance doesn’t subscribe to the ‘IT’ Girl tag and AMANDA herself believes in being passionate for her craft, putting fame firmly at the back of her mind. She may be in her 20s yet the outlook she has on her blossoming career speaks volumes of AMANDA’s grounded principles. Her diversity as an actress is equally impressive having taken on roles as a suicidal teenager, a nerd and even a Devil Worshipper! Now Amanda’s star is rising fast with her appearing in the hit series “Mad Men”.

She’s seen as being relatable to audiences, especially since a New York Times reviewer cited her standout performance in “The Myth Of The American Sleepover”. Her luminously fair features are as enthralling as her engaging presence on film and you already know I’m in AMANDA’s corner with her being such a cute blonde. With another indie feature and the teen comedy “Messina High” based on William Shakespeare’s “Much Ado About Nothing” in the pipeline, AMANDA is destined to make her mark and leave us yearning for more.

Sexy Siren: Caity Lotz

 alt=
 alt=  alt=

By coincidence or not, it seems like a blonde fest so far this week and I’m continuing in the same vein with CAITY LOTZ who has already left men drooling with her tempting Esquire shoot. Be it the sly nipple exposure or the flash of her pert derrière, CAITY has the assets to sizzle! She’s also starring in the upcoming MTV Series “Death Valley” as Kirsten Landry, an excitable Undead Task Force agent and having watched the trailer, she amazed me right from the start with the astounding spinning kick! Beware Vampires, Werewolves and Zombies as you get schooled by the Princess of Hard Knocks. Check out the video (above) of CAITY teaching us how to defend against them pesky Undead horde. This girl can do some seriously high impact stunts including parkour…huge props to her athleticism and flexibility she’s honed through the years as a dancer. After all, she has toured with mega star Lady Gaga and bust those dance moves on the film “Step Up 3D”. Slated to grace the massive 2011 Edition of Comic Con in San Diego, it’s pretty much guaranteed fans will come in droves to the “Death Valley” panel to cast amorous eyes on this blossoming TV Hottie. Have you seen the pic of CAITY pursing her lips…downright Sultry! To be able to combine intense physicality and appealing sauciness is breathtaking so much so I would love to see her in “Kick Ass 2″ be it as a supervillain or an ally of Hit Girl/Kick Ass.

Remember her as Stephanie in “Mad Men”, Anna Draper’s niece who despite her desirable status doesn’t subscribe to the norms of society in the 60s, a time when women were objectified. It’s great to see for once Mr Casanova Jon Hamm unable to get his hands on an enchanting lady. Check out the CAITY LOTZ OFFICIAL SITE for her reel containing snippets of her scenes from “Mad Men” as well as Law and Order:LA. She has the gift for drawing out those subtle yet dramatic moments onscreen. In just a short span of time, CAITY has skyrocketed to be quite the coveted actress and her star will only keep rising!

Indie Queen: Lynn Shelton

 alt=  alt=

She’s been called the heroine of the indie movement and why not! LYNN SHELTON is best remembered as the creative force behind the movie “Humpday” which audaciously uncovers that there is such a thing as dude love between friends. The comedy had a rapturous reception during its run at numerous film festivals and even got a standing ovation at Cannes. Delivering on its premise of going beyond boundaries, the tale of 2 guys entering an amateur porn contest as the two stars is brilliant in its execution. No wonder LYNN won the John Cassavetes Award at Film Independent’s Spirit Awards 2010 adding to her Acura Someone to Watch Award win in 2009 at the same event…WOW!! On those meritorious achievements, Lynn should be lavished with praise for the genius that she is behind the lens. Don’t forget she did shine in the foxiest of ways on camera as the gorgeous bisexual Monica in “Humpday” who has amorous eyes for a threesome! If you want to see her playing yet another enchantingly complex character, be sure to catch the two day screening of “The Off Hours” at SIFF 2011 starting June 6th. In fact, there’s two indie sweethearts for the price of one ticket. Be blown away by the duo of perennial festival darling Amy Seimetz and the equally fabulous LYNN SHELTON who also serves as consulting producer on the film.

Realizing the potential of cinema, the cleverness by which she weaves her intimate stories most notably “Humpday” make for exciting consumption. This Seattle director and actress approaches filmmaking in a rather unique way, preferring to work closely with her cast and allowing each to improvise sans script. No wonder she was tapped to direct Jon Hamm and January Jones in the episode Hands And Knees of acclaimed TV Hit “Mad Men”. Lynn is rapidly becoming a core member of the indie community, an awe-inspiring woman whom everyone will hold in high regard…:)
