Must-Watch Indie Sweethearts at Dances With Films 2012 Part 2

Abby Miller in “Fuzz Track City”

 alt=  alt=

Abby Miller has one of the most uniquely adorable faces guaranteed to spark avidity in a short time. Scene-stealing turns in “Justified” and “Mad Men” have led to a growth of entertaining roles for her! In the dark comedy “Fuzz Track City”, she’s a ingĂ©nue who receives a protective arm by the film’s tough guy protagonist. Abby always finds a way to inject a little fun onscreen affirming the many gifts she has as a performer.

Charlene Amoia & Kate Kelton in “The Longer Day Of Happiness”

 alt=  alt=

Does it matter that we’ve deprived of a trailer for “The Longer Day Of Happiness” when there’s two ravishing brunettes appearing in the comedy. Might I also add two of the most engagingly genial, especially when they both take the time to acknowledge my interest in their work. Consistently intriguing, Charlene Amoia and Kate Kelton are treasures of this industry who are worthy of admiration.

Alexandra Fatovich in “The Inferior Emotion”

 alt=

I’ll always remember Alexandra Fatovich fondly for she was one of the first in a group of actresses to send me her autograph. Forward a few year later and I have to admit she seems to get cuter and cuter by the day! There’s no denying the hold indie talents have on me and Alexandra has been lovingly gracious from the very start. While we wait to see her shine in “The Inferior Emotion”, our soft spot for her grows rapidly…:)

Maria Olsen in “DisOrientation”

 alt=

One of the most versatile actresses in the indie horror business, Maria Olsen continues to spring up amazement with the many guises (most times terrifying) she has personified over the years. There’s no frightful role she can’t handle, remember her as a Fury in “Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief”! Can’t wait to see how she fares in more light-hearted fare in the college comedy “DisOrientation”.

Kelly Burns in Music Video “I Really Really Love You (Stalker)”

 alt=  alt=

They always say it’s better late than never and while the screening of her video was on Friday, Kelly Burns is deserving of a shout-out! Yup this sumptuous redhead has sizzled in the world of indie films and no surprises she’s the victim of some serious obsession in the charmingly funny “I Really Really Love You (Stalker)”. Known for being down-to-earth, we would love nothing better than to be infatuated with her…:)

Indie Queen: Paige Kimball

 alt=  alt=

Essaying quirky characters is part and parcel of being an indie actress and PAIGE KIMBALL has taken on some amusing ones using a procession of expressions to whip up laughter. Check out her in “OMG! I’m Knocked Up!” as Jackie, the woman oblivious to the glaring fact that she’s preggers! Hilarity ensures as she chalks it down to a bloated stomach and having the need for liposuction. Transitioning into a much darker tone is her appearance in the menacingly freaky short “Curtain” that has a man being threatened by both a psychotic girlfriend and a Succubus that seemingly makes its home in his bathtub. PAIGE plays Victoria, the landlady in the apartment where he lives and is privy to its horrifying secret. Since this is a horror comedy, I’m presuming PAIGE will be conveying some of the more lighthearted moments. Keep your eyes peeled genre for genre fav Maria Olsen in the role of the Succubus as well as the astoundingly scary FX/Makeup!

It’s been a long time since I’ve been this creeped out and the trailer (above) does bring chills down my spine especially in the dead of night! Get a glimpse of the talents of Miss PAIGE KIMBALL as “Curtain” is screening on 24th September at Fantastic Fest 2011. Be sure to take a look at the PAIGE KIMBALL OFFICIAL SITE for more updates. She’s also in the World War 2 spoof BAND OF MOTHERS where even soldiers are mollycoddled faster than you can say Mama’s Boy! If you’re a fan Joan Allen (where has she been?), it’s very likely you’ll adore PAIGE too for she has a similarly approachable incandescence about her.

Sexiest Actresses At Film4 FrightFest 2011

Natalie Victoria in “Deadheads”

 alt=

As you might already now Natalie Victoria is in London for the screening for her movie “Deadheads” at this year’s Frightfest. They say love is undying and that’s how much her character Ellie means to one of the leading men (Mike played by Michael McKiddy) on this kick-ass zombie comedy…even after zombiefication, she’s still his infatuation! Oh and it’s not all puppy love as Natalie does get to rip hearts out in her second role as a vicious Zombie Bride. Get her on Season 2 of “The Walking Dead”…let’s perk up the melodrama with Miss Natalie’s winning smile as we already know she has bite…:) As sweet as nectar with a bombshell appeal, everyone should develop an addiction for Natalie in a hurry.

Shanley Caswell & Spencer Locke in “Detention”

 alt=  alt=

Why do i adore Shanley Caswell? Because she granted me an Exclusive Interview as soon as I contacted her via Facebook and her accommodating personality is to be treasured. Why do i adore Spencer Locke? Because she has an irrepressible cuteness that’s on par with Glee’s Dianna Agron. Together they may be the opposite spectra of youthful exuberance (or is it angst) yet the delectable duo shines in the slasher “Detention” that’s been called everything from visually trippy horror to a surge of teen culture and dark humor. While Molly Ringwald and Ally Sheedy were icons of the 80s thanks to The Breakfast Club which ranks as influential to certain scenes in “Detention”, Shanley and Spencer themselves are set to be role models for their generation.

Maya Hazen & Maria Olsen in “Vile”

 alt=  alt=

A film that’s inspired by “Hostel”…that’s the premise of “Vile”, a shocker that has a group of people taken by force and subjected to brutal experiments Nazi style! You would know that this very blog was borne out of my fascination with all things gorno and this has two ladies who have been exceptionally active on the horror scene. At the very start of the trailer (above), one of the hardest working women in horror Maria Olsen forebodes of the terror to come in a British accent no less. She’s an extraodinary character actress able to embody a diverse number of faces horror has ever seen. Maya Hazen is a Japanese American cutie with the charisma to spice up any feature most notably in the US remake of “Shutter”.

Sara Paxton in “The Innkeepers”

 alt=

Now here’s a busy actress that’s rapidly making a name for herself in the horror/thriller genre. Sara Paxton could certainly be the one to challenge Danielle Harris for the throne of prevalently dynamic Horror Princess…something we might never have expected from her seeing how she previously starred in much light-hearted fare such as a mermaid in Aquamarine. An intense turn as a rape victim in “The Last House On The Left” remake has lead to enthralling upcoming roles in “Shark Night 3D” and “The Innkeepers”. While the former sees her as the sexy bikini-clad eye candy with a tough mental exterior, the latter is all about her ability to illustrate charm under duress amidst the slow-burning eerieness crafted by the expert direction of Ti West.

Melissa George in “A Lonely Place To Die”

 alt=

Melissa George and her peers such as Anna Torv, Yvonne Strahovski, Rachael Taylor,etc. have been captivating our hearts for a number of years, showing both guile and exquisiteness we’ve come to covet. Add pioneering hotties such as Nicole Kidman and Naomi Watts as well as a wave of new sweethearts such as Rachel Carpani (the lead of new show “Against The Wall”) and it’s clear the Aussie Starlet Invasion into Hollywood is at a high. Certainly Melissa George is quite the stunner and surely must have one of the most beautiful lips in the business! Her run of physically demanding roles such as the one in “A Lonely Place To Die” could have her lauded as an action star but she’s just as capable of showing an air of vulnerability in the quieter scenes.

My Tribute To Scream Queen Maria Olsen

 alt=

Her dedication to her craft is second to none, her ability to bring intensity to her roles is pure awesomeness; Maria Olsen has been talked as the next horror icon. Plus she’s one of my favorite actresses just because she send me those lovely postcards from various film festivals around the US including SUNDANCE…..WOW..and for that i’m eternally grateful to her! This lady is full of talent as can be seen when as the creature called ‘THE FURY’ in ‘PERCY JACKSON AND THE LIGHTNING THIEF’, she memorably struck fear!

 alt=  alt=

Her Best Supporting Actress Win at the South African HorrorFest for the zombie-comedy ‘DIE-NER (GET IT!)’ affirms her flair for acting. She’s also appearing in dramadys, fantasy flicks and sci-fi with a rather compelling part in ‘EMBERS OF THE SKY’. With numerous roles beckoning for MARIA, I’m amazed by the kindness she has shown to me and probably her many fans worldwide.

 alt=

I have to say the way MARIA morphs into some of these challenging characters is remarkable. A champion of the indie horror scene, MARIA has definitely got into our heads one way or another…..she scares us but in a very good way…:) One of the most hard-working women in film deserves every recognition she’s getting and I’m stoked to be a MARIA OLSEN admirer…:)
