JESSA ZARUBICA has a bubbly charm certain to pique your interest and she is as talented as she is enchanting. My current job as a blogger community manager entails meeting some of the most beautiful women on social media and what can I say but be euphorically amazed. Likewise getting to know actresses such as the vivacious JESSA via the web is also a blessing…:) I did come across her work on the indie horror “Portal” where as one of the guests at a creepy motel, she gets sucked into a hallucinogenic trip ala Groundhog Day. Events continue to replay themselves over time and we soon find out the motel is run by a sinister coven of witches. Check out a snippet from her reel (above) as the character Nora. We get to see JESSA’s perky derrière as she emerges from bed proving she has a sexy side to her.
Besides her onscreen endeavors, JESSA is also a writer for the fascinating short film “Firefly”, a labor of love and starring her comely self as the high school girlfriend of a teen questioning life itself. The impressive trailer has elements of mystery and JESSA’s features are an illuminating visage bound for adoration. Rooting for indie starlets is steadily becoming the norm so make space in your hearts for the always intriguing JESSA ZARUBICA.
As I scanned her IMDB Page, it struck me that KRISTIN SUTTON has a starring role opposite one time Sexiest Woman Alive Minka Kelly. Now Minka has always been a favorite of mine since her “Friday Night Lights” days and having two hotties together is most gratifying. I’m talking about the upcoming comedy “Searching For Sonny”, Sonny being “Heroes” Masi Oka who goes missing in this mind-boggling mystery set at a high school reunion. This just in from Miss KRISTIN SUTTON herself; the character Cynthia Schubert whom she essays in “Searching For Sonny” is going to be a bitchy, snobby type…bring on the nastiness, GIRL! She has taken on the prissy persona before in the amusing “Wonderville” Pilot, a sarcasm-filled look into the crazy lives and sometimes disgusting habits of a motley group of theme restaurant employees. If you’re a fan of shows such as “The Office” or “Parks and Recreation”, you’ll appreciate it’s mockumentary humor. Some may also recognize her distinctively high-pitched voice as KRISTIN has done Voice Over work for Cartoon Network’s Power Puff girls, several English-dubbed animes as well Barney and Friends. She somehow reminds me of another Kristin, the consistently amazing Kristin Chenoweth seeing how these two diminutive blondes have that similarly cute fairy voice.
KRISTIN can also be seen in the vampire flick “The Devil’s Gravestone”, enhancing her standing as an actress on the indie scene where she’s already done several features including chase thriller “Junction Texas”. So start finding out more about her at the KRISTIN SUTTON OFFICIAL SITE as her talents also extend to producing and writing. For me it’s all about seeing the potential in an actress and KRISTIN could be the one on to strike a chord with audiences.
When talking about Impact Performers, there’s one lady generating tremendous buzz, so much so her name was ranked #2 on IMDB’s Starmeter only a few weeks ago. I’m referring to the delectable JENN GOTZON who also captured the #1 spot above Natalie Portman in a ranking of top actresses based on search results of her name. As we know, popularity on the IMDB site can be fleeting but it is a wonderful achievement for JENN who industry insiders compare her onscreen presence as on par to a young Meryl Streep. JENN most certainly has that endearing likability that befits a blossoming star in the making. If you’ve already a fan of hers on Facebook, you already know JENN is appealingly sweet even commenting how cool it was that I was featuring her here. For an actress of her stature to interact with fans is invaluable..isn’t it any wonder my huge affection for blondes keeps increasing exponentially…:) This week alone, two trailers of her upcoming films were released which will exhibit her divine loveliness and charming versatility. On the strength of her upcoming feature “Doonby”, JENN GOTZON is at her sassy best as a worldly daughter of a wealthy doctor who becomes weary of life’s trappings until an enigmatic drifter brightens it up. The mysterious man in question is played by John Schneider of Smallville fame and his gruff yet laid-back exterior kind of reminds me of Michael Landon from the TV series “Highway To Heaven”. I can’t wait for the sparks to fly between JENN’s delightful character Laura Reaper and John’s Sam Doonby, the outsider seeing how the two of them have boundless chemistry!
She’s primed to leave you smitten in a host of features such as the French/Indian war drama “Alone Yet Not Alone” and an intriguing cyber-war thriller “Dragon Day”. Be sure to keep up with her latest exploits at the very informative JENN GOTZON OFFICIAL SITE. Stirring turns in “Frost/Nixon” and “Stained” launched her as a sought-after screen siren and her consistent ability to bring out the emotional depth in complex roles is quickly becoming a crowd-pleaser. With no-less than 30 indie films under her belt, she’s living the dream and is encouraging others to do the same via her motivational mentor-outreach program, “Inspiring Audiences”. She’s the irrefutable sparkle in our lives, elevating movie-watching into an absorbing medium which everyone can relish with gusto.
I have a feeling Michael J. Fox must surely approve of the stunning Holland Roden in MTV’s re-boot of “Teen-Wolf”. Oh wait she so kindly posted this on my Facebook wall only a few days ago: ‘Thank you for being sooo supportive I REALLY do appreciate it!!’ Michael My Man, Miss Holland has such a sizzling potency on and off camera, you and I both should be in awe..:) To show my admiration for this luscious beauty, it’s raving about Holland Roden time! Watch out! She’s no stereotypical Miss popularity as the sensual Lydia in “Teen-Wolf” who also happens to be the brainiest student out of the whole school population. Her refreshing take is bound for adoration and she’s lined up some pleasant surprises which we’ll be waiting with bated breath every week.
Every year we are treated to a TV show that’s unlike anything we’ve seen before. Enter the kooky comedy series “Wilfred” starring Elijah Wood and the vivacious Fiona Gubelmann. Setting up nicely for sparks to fly between the two is the strange connection that seems to draw them together. Elijah plays Ryan, the dude with suicidal tendencies, perceiving the dog owned by potential love interest Jenna (Fiona) as a man in a dog-suit (played by Jason Gann, the creator of “Wilfred”). Bizarre and hysterical situations are the order of the day. Australian accents, oddball escapist humor and of course the comely Fiona Gubelmann ensures interest for “Wilfred” will be huge. Fiona’s engaging presence as the girl-next-door will endear herself to viewers everywhere.
After “Heroes” and “No Ordinary Family” comes a new breed of superhumans to rouse the sci-fi geek in us once again. I’m referring to the upcoming series “Alphas” which has the always enticing Azita Ghanizada in a starring role as a woman who has the ability to heighten her senses to exceptional levels. There’s no ‘Save the Cheerleader’ campaign here; “Alphas” is more akin to CSI but instead of insight and deduction, crimes are solved with the help of extraodinary gifts. Azita herself is one of the Special Ones, mesmerizing us with her exoticness and captivating us with her dramatic flair. While she faced ups and downs during her career, Azita has now pushed into the forefront, quickly making her mark and building an ever-growing fanbase.
Hands up all those who saw the saucy Mikaela Hoover flash her luscious rear in the very first episode of “Happy Endings”. That tempting scene somehow co-relates to the very title of the show “Happy Endings”….pretty amazing!! Do we dare say she stole the thunder from her co-stars like Elisha Cuthbert and Eliza Coupe…then again she’s been doing that a lot lately. Most recently she was the superhero sidekick Holly who inspires Rainn Wilson’s alter-ego transformation in dark comedy “Super”. If you’re searching for the sweet sensuality onscreen, Mikaela personifies the very best. This lovable brunette has tons of charm that goes beyond the looks department and should therefore seriously be considered as an emerging Sex Symbol.
Best remembered as the tongue tornado receiving co-ed Dana in the raucous “American Pie:Book Of Love”, Melanie Papalia currently has a plum role as Pippa Venturi, documentary filmmaker and blogger in the murder mystery episodic drama “EndGame”. Belonging to the esteem group of Canada’s fastest rising starlets, Melanie recently starred alongside Halle Berry in “Frankie & Alice” and at 24 has generated constant attention. Melanie has been amazing in all 11 episodes of “EndGame” thus far and it’s her illuminating cuteness that has made her an addictive watch on TV. It also becomes essential viewing when two Canadian Sirens, i.e. Melanie and Katharine Isabelle dazzle their way into our hearts. To be a devotee of the praiseworthy Melanie is sheer delight.
This fall be prepared for Camille Mana and “Mr Social Network” Jesse Eisenberg in ‘The Ambassadors’, the upcoming indie project Camille co-stars with Jessie. That sounds mighty fascinating but first fall for her in “Norman” premiering tonight at SIFF 2011. While Emily VanCamp chews up the screen as the love interest we’ve come to adore, Camille herself does steal a heart or two (catch her in the trailer above) as she did in her very own coming of age drama “The Samurai of Strongsville” . Emily VanCamp was the sole reason I religiously followed “Everwood” on TV….must have started when I caught sight of Emily in the purple bikini in an early episode..hehe. Flash ahead and it seems foxy Camille has undeniably taken my fancy..:)
ISLA FISHER & POLLYANNA MCINTOSH in “Burke and Hare”
These two striking ladies sure make the Scottish accent so damn tempting. Isla Fisher is the Aussie Girl Next Door with that invitingly voluptuous body. Pollyanna Mcintosh is the statuesque vixen with the killer figure that has us fantasizing in an instant. Together they provide the visual pleasure amidst the black comedy of “Burke and Hare” in their cleavage bursting corsets. Pollyanna of course garnered controversy for being the centrepiece of gory thriller “The Woman” and its predecessor “Offspring”. Isla is the go-to-girl of comedy having caught the eye in “The Wedding Crashes” and many more after. Most significantly is the way they change it up onscreen that rocks our boats. Doing so in a period piece such as “Burke and Hare” is testament to their acting finesse.
Seeing Sophie Quinton in a barely naked pose in the poster of French murder mystery “Poupoupidou” harks back to the days of bombshells like Marilyn Monroe and Jayne Mansfield. Once voted as Most Promising Newcomer, Sophie does have that Sex Bomb appeal she uses to great effect in “Poupoupidou”. Take it from me, French starlets are synonymous with the carefree eroticism of cinema of days gone by and more so in the modern era. If you like whodunits than this French film will be your cup of tea. Tracing the cause in the death of Candice Lecoeur played with sweet seductiveness by Sophie, this is an entertaining look into the trials of being a celebrity and at the same time could just be a poignant tribute to the life and times of the great Marilyn Monroe.
Not sure why but strangely Rinko Kikuchi reminds me of Devon Aoki. Maybe it’s the peroxide hair or the innocent facade that masks a burgeoning sensuality. Whatever it may be, Rinko is fashioning herself into a style icon on the red carpet these days. The poignant drama “Babel” introduced her to the world and help her gain a Best Supporting Actress Oscar nomination, a first for any Japanese actress. “Maps of the Sounds of Tokyo” and now “Norwegian Wood”, adapted from the best-selling novel by Haruki Murakami has put her in the driver’s seat as an Arthouse Darling. The romantic tearjerker brought to the big screen sees Rinko facing emotional turmoil in this tale of forbidden love. Her penchant for portraying the darker shades of the human makeup is gripping!
LUDIVINE SAGNIER & KRISTIN SCOTT THOMAS in “Love Crime”
It’s intoxicating when a drama has two sexpots from different generations playing off each other in a game of seduction and betrayal. I’m talking about French thriller “Love Crime” that has its leading ladies Ludivine Sagnier and Kristin Scott Thomas straddle the merry-go-round of power and pleasures of the flesh. Kristin is the ageless siren whose forays into French cinema is something we always look forward to since she’s always stirringly wonderful. Ludivine is the belle de jour best remembered for her uninhibited nudity and sexual trysts she so aptly embodied as a nympho in “Swimming Pool”. European actresses are well known for disrobing on camera to drive a story but that never detracts from the fact that these ladies have solid credentials to captivate.
The great country of Canada sure has produced some of the hottest talents on the planet with quite the staying power. Take for example, the vivacious Jill Hennessy, she of “Crossing Jordan” fame who proved that medical examiners can be sexy despite mired in yucky dead bodies and dastardly homicides. Come 2011, she’s making a comeback with not 1 but 2 indie features that will ignite our fondness for her once more. In Roadie, she gets to showcase her vocal skills as a singer/songwriter who reconnects with an old flame. Her acting prowess can also be seen in “Small Town Murder Songs” as a scandalous drug addict who strays from the straight and narrow. If you have a weakness for exotic brunettes with a dazzling aura, Jill Hennessy is your gal.
Those mesmerizing features of CHRISTIE BURSON ensures her standing as one of the most memorable faces to grace our screens. Already the trailer for the noirish “Dirty Little Trick” sees CHRISTIE at her suggestively sexy best, temptingly slinky as the hitchhiker who complicates the life of do-gooder Michael (Dean Cain back to great form). An exceedingly beautiful woman can be quite a handful and CHRISTIE’s sociopath is a taker, relieving men of their money without any remorse! CHRISTIE portrays dual roles, representations of the narcissistic side of her character and without a hint of greyness…she’s all about evil manipulation! It didn’t take long for Dean’s character to be swept off his feet just as fast as viewers will be turned on by her persuasive seductiveness. I saw her in the tightest of HOT PANTS in a photo from an interview and she’s absolutely tasty in more words can describe! Ably supported by genre favs Michael Madsen, Tiffany Shepis and of course the saucy Laurie Love, “Dirty Little Trick” delivers all the right punches in its understated black & white interspersed with splashes of color montages. Internet buzz is also directed at CHRISTIE as she’s starring in the upcoming mystery “iCrime” where privacy is no longer sacred and a nefarious tool for exploitation.
Just like Vixenish Emmanuelle Chriqui, she fluently conveys her exotic sweetness on film that it’s easy to fall head over heels for her. The more we gazed longingly at her, the more we get hooked…if this is a form of entrapment, I’m loving every minute of it! Did anyone notice yet that from certain angles, CHRISTIE could actually be Rachel Bilson’s younger sister…:) If Cute is the new SEXY and that notion is channeled by way of CHRISTIE BURSON then it’s obligatory we follow the work of this attractive young lady.
JEAN LOUISE O’ SULLIVAN has that magical essence of cool that’s unmissable. Whether on the screen or on print, she makes our head spin, reminiscent of a classic beauty in a ‘Gwen Stacy’ kind of way. I wouldn’t mind if Emma Stone dropped out of “The Amazing Spider Man” and was replaced by Miss JEAN….hehe. Check her out in her audition video (above)….so interestingly beautiful, she could easily embody a character from any era….come to think of it, if there is an opening to be on “Mad Men”, she definitely has the fashionable look to fit right in..:) While we are all fantasizing about that, lets hope she’s the Final Girl in the haunting “Welcome To The Bates Motel”. Thanks to her posting the trailer (above) on FACEBOOK, I got a fantastic peek at this indie thriller shot on location at the world famous Bates Motel and Haunted Hayride in Gradyville, Pennsylvania which just amps up the mystery and intrigue! One of the famous quotes from Norman Bates was “I’m sure they’ll be very interested about what’s going on here” and I’m sure Psycho fans can’t wait to see Bates Motel return to celluloid glory. Wondering whether I could score a I Pissed Myself at the Bates Motel T-shirt!
Even though it’s not your archetypical Janet Leigh part this time round, JEAN makes for one nubile leading lady of horror…will there possibly be a shower scene?? On television, she was striking as innocent Brittany Mitchell in the sexy spoof of teen dramas “Valley Peaks”. On film, after appearances in SXSW 2010 fav “The Myth Of The American Sleepover” and the upcoming sci-fi mind bender “Inhabitant”, chances are she’s likely to be the next Indie Sweetheart.
At the tender age of 13, FELISSA ROSE created one of the iconic horror figures on-screen as the serial-killing ANGELA in ‘SLEEPAWAY CAMP’. She made the shy, disturbed outsider central character her own garnering rave reviews and recently reprised the role once more in ‘RETURN TO SLEEPAWAY CAMP’. With numerous cult-classics to her name up till today, FELISSA has to be considered as one of the finest genre actresses of all time. Ever the consummate actress, she’s also ventured into comedy by starring as a money-hungry wife in ‘HOTDOG CASSEROLE’. FELISSA has several intriguing films of the horror persuasion (of course) in the pipeline so you best check her out at the FELISSA ROSE OFFICIAL SITE.
Her love and passion for horror shines through in her performances over the years and she’s equally adept at playing the villain or the victim. Alluringly stunning and fetchingly buxomy, FELISSA has that bewildering foxiness that sometimes you quite can’t figure out whether she’s good or bad in the movies she’s in. A mystery on-screen but an open-book in real life, I’ve heard she’s oh so friendly and a joy to work with. The resurgence of FELISSA ROSE has always been highly anticipated and it is so cool of her to gratify a new breed of horror enthusiasts (me included) as i was only 7 when she first made her presence felt in 1983.
