Rising Starlet: Grace Folsom

Grace Folsom Reel from David Spaltro on Vimeo.

At the San Diego Film Festival 2012, everyone will be talking about GRACE FOLSOM who enchants with a memorable performance in “Things I Don’t Understand”. She stars as Sara, the terminally ill girl being interviewed by grad student Violet Kubelick (a believer in the afterlife) for her thesis on spirituality. Her dedicated research on the debilitating condition of her character is evident as GRACE is spot-on when depicting the state of a cancer-ravaged young woman dealing with her mortality. Conveying the face of positivity, she instills a touching yet spirited semblance of the travails affecting someone dealing with impending death. Twitch, one of the best entertainment sites did an article on her which prevalently signifies her blossoming status as a coveted newcomer.

Judging from the complimentary reviews on the GRACE FOLSOM OFFICIAL SITE, she could very well be arousing an avid preoccupation in the coming months. Grace does have the big ‘anime-like’ eyes which are perfectly gorgeous giving her a desirably striking look. As you know, men are drawn to lips more than any other facial feature and hers is full enhancing the attractiveness she has even further. Despite her busy schedule on the festival circuit, it’s great to hear back from her that she would be honored to be lauded on the Actress Obsession Blog. She just moved to LA about a month ago so expectations are that there will definitely be plenty more written about this lissome talent.

Canadian Vixen: Olivia Andrup

 alt=  alt=

It’s a saucy debut bound to stimulate emotions and OLIVIA ANDRUP sparkles on her very first big screen outing. Courtesy of one of the steamiest sex scenes on film in the drug-fuelled “Irvine Welsh’s Ecstasy”, she’ll leave you on a high. Potently sexy as the impressionable Hazel in her tasty school uniform, she proceeds to bed the leading man amidst throbbing beats and hallucinogens. Some may argue the case of bordering on exploitation yet “Ecstasy” is based on Irvine Welsh’s novel whose earlier book turned film, “Trainspotting” became such a memorable phenomenon. Pretty sure no one trivialized the astonishing content so let’s judge every film on its merits and the performances of the cast namely OLIVIA. Tender of age and promising, she was a standout during her time at the Vancouver Academy of Dramatic Arts.

While she’s still at a fledgling stage in her career, OLIVIA’s already been hailed as an alluring newcomer by controversial writer Irvine Welsh himself. In fact, she and Kristin Kreuk both exude temptation in the movie version of his 1996 bestseller Ecstasy. Read up on this charmer at the OLIVIA ANDRUP BLOG where she goes by the endearing nickname Ollie…:) We certainly don’t need any coaxing to adore her for this upcoming starlet has the precocious sweetness to be your crush…:)

Rising Starlet: Jessica Luza

 alt=  alt=

Television has a way in accentuating the female form and I must say the comely JESSICA LUZA is some looker. You may have seen her guest-starring on the very first episode of the Raven Symone sitcom “State Of Georgia” as the aspiring actress who gets sarcastically rejected. It’s about making a quick impression in one’s young career and this ravishing cutie has shown she’s more than capable of pushing herself on film. As the rebellious Teri opposite Lucas Till in “The Lost & Found Family”, JESSICA displayed the tenacity of an individual with a single-mindedness that’s to be admired. In fact, that solid performance has become a stepping stone towards what will be heaps of success for this glowing prospect. Check out her excellent reel (above) covering her work in commercials as well as an actress and host.

She’s already nabbed a lead role in the drama “At The Top Of The Pyramid” that sees her vying for the captaincy of Centreville Wildcat Cheerleaders with her squad members. With all that feminine tension, prepare for the cattiness to rear its ugly head despite the family-oriented themes of the film. Blessed with her beautiful almond eyes that’s evocative of youthful splendor and the lovably exotic features, there’s so much to be fond of JESSICA. From one of the interviews, JESSICA remarked that she’s firm in her belief to “do one good deed a day”; With such noble standing, there can only be good things for this fabulous newcomer.

Rising Starlet: Heather Dorff

 alt=  alt=

Her expressively hypnotic blue eyes are an immediate attention grabber and HEATHER DORFF does indeed prove to be quite the compelling actress in the arena of indie horror. As she once remarked to horror fans everywhere, she could just be under our beds waiting to give us a good scare…that dark humor of hers is so lovable! She herself once went through a rather more grim stage of life and from that experience was born the unnerving short film “What They Say”, a disturbing portrayal of a woman with an uncontrollable need for cutting. Set to premiere at The Chicago Horror Film Festival this September where HEATHER is the esteemed host, the teaser (above) has been called wild and shocking, a foreboding of the psychological terror to come. HEATHER will no doubt impress as Gwen, the complexed, damaged persona who revels in some skin-crawling razor blade mutilation that would make us cringe. It’s also great to see her alongside fellow Scream Queen Kitsie Duncan in “What They Say” as well as the soon to be released “Mother’s Blood”. This thriller of twisted proportions sees HEATHER as Emma, the repressed daughter of control freak Vivian (Kitsie) who traded her daughter’s beauty in order to regain her own after a horrific accident. She’s investing her heart and soul into these features and not just as an actress as she’s heavily involved in the writing/producing side of things as well.

With all the dire material HEATHER has to work with in a majority of her films, off camera she always has a warm smile and ever so welcoming of all her fans. I myself am reciprocating the love by heaping praise on this emerging prospect on the independent scene. You too can do your part by visiting the newly revamped HEATHER DORFF OFFICIAL SITE and will find that she’s easy on the eye as an alluring model. This lovely gal doesn’t shy away from unsettling subject matter onscreen and is showing the world what she can do when tackling such chilling scenes. Success is only a stone’s throw away for this bright newcomer.

Rising Starlet: Tabetha Wallace

 alt=  alt=

Seeing how I am still obsessed with “Roswell” the TV Series thanks to the trio of hotties Shiri Appleby, Katherine Heigl and Majandra Delfino, I get excited whenever a feature on aliens decide to come my way. “Super 8″ might have the blockbuster credentials but I’ve heard it lacks the funny moments J J Abrams used to peddle; has the dude gone way too serious?? What really piques my interest is the indie “Night Of The Alien” screening at Dances With Films this week and the actress that will appeal to any Extraterrestrial-Seeking enthusiast. As Boltron, the benevolent alien with a thing for “American Idol” or should i say “The Jennifer Lopez Show”, TABETHA WALLACE is strikingly out of this world and so comfortable in the skin of the drum-playing, stoner E.T. on a mission to save Earth. Utilizing an amusingly deadpan persona throughout, it’s one priceless performance from this laudable newcomer. A standout in this zany adventure, TABETHA has such groovy appeal, it’s easy to be beguiled hook, line and sinker. On the strength of its excellent cast and the charming wittiness of its alien-themed road movie slant, viewers are guaranteed a really good time.

It is their individuality that continually impresses us and TABETHA rightly belongs on the ever growing list of uniquely enthralling indie actresses. Film Festivals are definitely the avenue to get in touch with them and it’s great to see a host of talented women setting the standards in the entertainment industry. Show your support for the promising TABETHA and I can’t wait for her next role that hopefully has a wacky zing to it!!

Kitsie Duncan in “Lethal Obsession”

 alt=  alt=

Here’s a lady who has a sumptuous sophistication as red-hot as the gorgeous locks on her. Kitsie Duncan stars in “Lethal Obsession”as the owner of a popular web-cam site glamorizing scantily-clad girls via live streaming. It all goes south when they are killed while performing their sensual acts and she’s suspected of being the murderer. This movie is a wet dream for anyone who has a voyeurism fetish, especially when it’s the sexy performance of Kitsie Duncan fueling those fantasies.

Nikki Estridge in “Cyclone”

 alt=  alt=

Nikki Estridge provides two of the most memorable moments in the indie film “Cyclone” in which she plays a woman seeking revenge for wrongful imprisonment. Firstly, she displays remarkable athleticism as she faces off with a huge dude in a lengthy and brutal fist fight. Secondly, we see her cleaning her blood stains in the most steamy of ways highlighting the enticingly toned, olive-skinned body we know she has. She’s one sexy gal with the flair to stir your senses.

Jessica Cameron in “The Dead Matter”

 alt=

You might have seen Jessica Cameron in a bikini for an unforgettable hot tub interview and the numerous glamorous shots of this Canadian Vixen on almost every social media platform. She may face some of the darkest subject matter ever seen on film yet Jessica retains the bubbly personality that would make anyone have a crush on her. The surrealistic feature “The Dead Matter” was one of her very first roles and ever since, Jessica has grown into a must-see horror starlet.

Kristina Klebe in “Zone Of The Dead”

 alt=

When I first saw her in “Halloween” being downright flirty and dirty, I knew I would be forever hooked on the immensely luscious Kristina Klebe. Even though her calling has been horror, she keeps things interesting by essaying TV Roles as well as dabbling in comedies and romantic dramas. If you want a kicks ass zombie killing action heroine, Kristina pulls out all the stops in “Zone Of The Dead” which is screening on May 14th. Call her the excellence of elegance..:)

Katie Bearden in “Monomaniacal”

 alt=

http://vimeo.com/23352259

Festivals and conventions are regularly an awesome experience as we get a chance to watch some of the best emerging actresses on show. Katie Bearden may be a newcomer but she already fulfills the exciting promise of a blossoming indie horror talent. Check out the twisted short film “Monomanical” for her strenuously intense portrayal of a woman fleeing for her life from a killer. Katie was so wonderfully convincing, she left me on the edge of my seat as the eponymous Final Girl.

Tribeca Hottie Special: Rising Starlet Cora Benesh

 alt=

With such an ethereal radiance, CORA BENESH exhibits a hippie chic resplendence that grows on you. It’s as though she’s been transported from the counterculture movement of the 60s to the modern day. Seeing how I have a soft spot for the ‘Flower Power’ comeliness that Zooey Deschanel and Chloë Sevigny embrace so divinely, it’s a cinch to be smitten with CORA. Certainly as a model, her portfolio emphasizes just how uniquely stunning she is on print. On the acting front, this promising lady from Portland, Oregon is a consummate professional and currently blossoming as an indie actress. Check her out in the awesome teaser (above) of the upcoming drama “City Baby”; Conjuring melancholia throughout, the theme song “The Weight She Fell Under” by Parenthetical Girls melds mellifluously highlighting the romanticism of the film wonderfully. With a cool premise, track and the beautiful serenity of leading lady CORA BENESH, “City Baby” will be an immensely mesmerizing watch. I’m amazed at how easy she gets you hooked, her striking visage instantly invigorating.

 alt=  alt=

At the 2008 edition of Tribeca, she appeared in “The Auteur”, a raunchy look at the life of an eccentric Porn Director. Fast forward to 2011, she enchants yet again in the drama “Rid Of Me”. In both instances, she stars alongside fellow indie thesp Katie O’ Grady whom I first started featuring on this Tribeca Film Fest ‘Hottie Special’. Just as The Strokes thrillingly roused up Coachella and the music world (they were on youtube!!), I’m having my own piece of heaven from afar by extolling the finest actresses of the movie world. There’s so much more I want to see of the eye-catching CORA BENESH..:)

Hot Actress #474 – Kristen Doute: Sizzling Cutie

 alt=  alt=

KRISTEN DOUTE is the perfect example of gunning for your dreams on the back of sheer hard work and commitment in the land of boundless opportunities, Los Angeles. As a working actor, she’s had her fair share of uncomfortable experiences but her passion has seen her none the worse for wear, having recently scored roles in two independent films. I just saw some of her photos at an event and KRISTEN shimmers with tasty radiance. Even at this early stage of her career, she’s made an impression on me with her beauty, energy and of course her friendliness. When I first contacted her online, she was so approachable and ladylike that it continually fuels my eagerness to feature women who may become the stars of the future. I remember once, an ex-boss remarked that many upcoming actresses do not have what it takes to make it big which I’ve always refuted as I’ve held the belief that their unwavering perseverance would certainly prove doubters wrong. Take a look at Amy Adams; once languishing in minor roles, she’s become a bonafide starlet and I’m not the least surprised if the very gorgeous KRISTEN follows in her footsteps.

She was introduced to the world with the thriller “Behind Your Eyes” and I’m sure we’ll be seeing more of her after the release of indie drama “The Loneliness of the Long Distance Dreamer”. What a joy to see that KRISTEN is starring alongside beautiful ladies I’m also currently corresponding with namely Frida Farrell and Laura Niles. While both movies have yet to reach Asian shores, I will be avidly keeping watch on this dazzling newcomer.
