Actress Obsession Awards 2013 – Recognizing Women Who Sizzle

The Trailblazer Of The Year Award goes to…..

Meg Chambers Steedle

 alt=

As Billie Kent on “Boardwalk Empire”, Meg Chambers Steedle embodied one of the most beloved new characters on the hit HBO saga. She lit up every episode as the fun-loving mistress of gang leader Nucky and proved to be no ordinary flapper girl. Meg also took on the requisite nude scenes with gusto, beguiling both critics and viewers in each of her scenes. Handling the emotional complexity of such a troubled character demonstrated her ability to hold our attention season long and she’s more than made her mark on television. There’s a star quality about this spunky redhead and we cannot wait to see more of Meg, The Dazzler…:)

Sweetheart Of The Year awards goes to…..

Brittney Refakes

 alt=

Let me count the ways Brittney Refakes should be the name on everyone’s lips in the new year. By far one of the cutest performers on the independent scene, Brittney is so lovable thanks to her entrancing face and gracious personality. It is no small feat to send me her autograph photo (above) and for that she’ll always be cherished…:) “Behind The Horror” is the film indie fans will come to enjoy as it’s dark comedic themes are entertaining and witty. Her gorgeous cheekbones, fair skin and warm smile gives Brittney a profound semblance of comeliness. That means the infatution for her starts right now!

Most Memorable Starlets Of The Year award goes to…..

Halley Feiffer and Justine Lupe

 alt=  alt=

While in 2011, Fiona Gubelmann and Holland Roden endeared themselves by personally endorsing me, it’s with great pleasure to state that Halley Feiffer as well as Justine Lupe gave me the thumbs up in 2012. Both are revered starlets in their own right; Justine famed for starring as Phoebe Blake in the NBC legal drama Harry’s Law, ruffling feathers along the way in what was a memorably striking character. Halley’s body of work has seen her in the acclaimed show “Bored To Death” and the quirky dramedy “Free Samples” with Jesse Eisenberg. They are indeed 2 amazing talents with such affable presence which I adore!

High profile appearances in “The Master” with leading man Phillip Seymour Hoffman and starring as a murderous nun on “Murdoch Mysteries has seen her turn into the darling everyone wants to watch. Euro Vixen Of The Year goes to goes to…..

Sylvia Hoeks

 alt=

Every feature she’s been in, Sylvia Hoeks continues to offer something original and it is merited that she was named as one of European films’ Shooting Stars back in 2011. The Dutch actress has the noteworthy willowy beauty many would fawn over and she has been regarded as being a stimulating figure on camera. She did go topless in “De Bende Van Oss (AKA The Gang of Oss)”, the pre-war drama where she was the dazzling factor as Johanna van Heesch, a crime figure of sorts. With a compelling part as a medical student who can see through people in the English-language film “X-Ray Eyes”, let’s hope all of Hollywood take notice of her.

Best Onscreen Performance in a Truly Creepy Movie goes to…..

Hannah Fierman

 alt=

The revolution of horror with the found footage genre is made riveting when female talents shine and that’s what Hannah Fierman did in “V/H/S”. “Amateur Night” is the terror tale she was in as part of the anthology of 5 shorts and as Lily left viewers petrified. Let’s just say it was a monstrous performance certain to excite every horror fan and display the depth of Hannah’s onscreen ability to arouse the senses. You may also have seen her in the popular series “The Vampire Diaries”, her distinctive facets glow with unique captivation. We’ve only scratched the surface of what she can do and Hannah is well on course for stardom.

Enchantingly Memorable Mature Actress Award goes to…..

Stepfanie Kramer and Stephanie Jones

 alt=  alt=

By now, it should no longer be a secret I’m passionate about older actresses for they have a special brand of allure that’s well documented. In 2012, both Stepfanie Kramer and Stephanie Jones were eye-catching in their respective projects which deserves an enthusiastic mention. It was “The Secret Circle” that saw Stepfanie at her bewitching best as the duplicitous Kate and I still can’t get over the fact the CW series was cancelled. Likewise Stephanie Jones proved to be a digital vixen on the web series “Good Job, Thanks” reveling in the role of bitchy Linda Livingston-Black making her lovable with perfect comic timing.

Most Celebrated Blonde Of The Year award goes to…..

Olivia Dudley

 alt=

Much has been discussed about how Olivia Dudley is busty-licious but rest assured she’s compelling in more ways than just her bountiful assets! It’s so appropriate that the tagline for the trailer of “Wadzilla” from the cult film “Chillerama” spells out ‘With A Climax That Will Blow You’. She of course teases a little cleavage for the camera and just like the other Olivia (Miss Wilde) became a constant addiction for viewers across the globe. In the survival horror flick “The Chernobyl Diaries”, she struck a chord with audiences yet again leaving us hypnotized and cementing herself as a modern day Sex Symbol.

Blonde Bombshell: Angel McCord

 alt=  alt=

What can we say but anoint ANGEL McCord as one of the hottest vixens in entertainment day. Her stunning genes are chiefly responsible for the photogenic attractiveness which are likewise present in her sisters Annalynn and Rachel. 2 of the McCord siblings (Angel and Annalynn) are at this moment exploring darker, unnerving material that’s psychologically disturbing. While her sis Annalynne is shocking audiences with her movie “Excision”, a true visceral gorefest, Angel herself is channeling pain through self mutilation in the role of Corey from the supernatural thriller “No Tell Motel”. It’s a character she plays engagingly well hiding her inner turmoil that can be seen from the numerous cuts on her wrist. She and friends seek out solace in an abandoned roadside motel only to find out there’s something way more sinister than their hidden demons.

On the sexy front, ANGEL has been at her tempting best in the soft-core series Chemistry. Those notorious scenes of her as lesbian love interest Merle going down on leading lady Ana Alexander and engaging in heavy sexual play with a bevy of beauties is After Dark TV Gold! Not averse to nudity, her natural bodice is to be admired in this era of aesthetics surgery/boobs and recently even plastic-looking Miss Universe/World. To each his own I guess but give me a sensual paramour like ANGEL any day of the week who’s about to make waves.

Ravishing Redhead: Meg Chambers Steedle

 alt=  alt=

Thank you to HBO for introducing us to the delectable MEG CHAMBERS STEEDLE who in one fell swoop has become Television’s newest turn-on. Two episodes into Season 3 of “Boardwalk Empire” and MEG has got us roundly aroused, no doubt precipitated by her on-screen nudity as the vixen Billie Kent, lover of Enoch ‘Nucky’ Thompson (Steve Buscemi). Yet she’s more than just about flaunting skin, bringing to life the foxy Billie with a hypnotic appeal which for so many around the globe will become a major addiction. She does have the right look to be a gorgeous flapper from the 1920s and her interpretation is a tease on a very likable level. If given the chance I’m sure fans would line up the Boardwalk to meet this sexy and endearing rising starlet. Even though she’s only been in a handful of features, she’s shown enough to suggest her time in the limelight is fast approaching.

In one of the interviews, she reveals how her bedroom scenes were a bone of contention but her professionalism shone through and one can only show respect towards her for taking the plunge. It has paid dividends as MEG has enthralled every single time her dazzling self surfaces onscreen. She possesses a playful exuberance which has all the facets of a heart-breaker and still manages to subdue us into bouts of infatuation. 2012 is looking to be the breakthrough year for this cute sizzler.

Scream Queen: Ruby LaRocca

 alt=  alt=

If you’re entertaining thoughts of a Lustful Addiction for RUBY LaRocca just like some Zombie Babies do, you might find her in The Cemetary from a movie scene or two making our Skin Crawl with equal excitement and trepidation. I’ve just named (in bold) some of her riveting features which you must check out if you’re an ardent fan of this Scarlet temptress. Synonymous with the best in sexploitation and kooky horror of the entirely dirty variety, RUBY likens the process of making the aforementioned films (including the nudity) as a fun experience. You might have salivated over that threesome she had with Misty Munday and Darian Cane in “The Seduction of Misty Mundae” or the topless sunbathing in the disturbing Jack Ketchum adaptation “The Lost”, the gorgeous tattoos adorning her body so integral to her sexuality. Her brutal thriller “The Super” is screening at the PollyGrind Film Festival where she plays a tenant incurring the wrath of a wacko neighbor in yet another impactful performance.

At a fest that celebrates grindhouse, exploitation and alternative horror, RUBY is a perfect fit as she’s been at the forefront of the darker side of cinema for quite some time. Erotically charged yet provocative appearances in controversial fare such as “Zombiechrst” and “Face Of Schlock” are likely to push more than a few buttons! Actually red is definitely the color for her and she’s every bit a babe when drenched in blood. Ensure you drop by both the RUBY LaRocca OFFICIAL SITE and the RUBY LaRoccca OFFICIAL BLOG for news on her upcoming blood-curdling projects. What also impresses me is her deep affection for her contemporaries, Debbie Rochon and Tina Krause, both of whom she’s worked with and continually hail. Likewise the tribute she pays to all the RUBY addicts out there who have savored her proving she’s staying grounded even with the successes she’s had. RUBY is one red-hot indie horror princess who has more than proven her worth in front and very soon behind the camera.

Sex Bomb: Beverly Lynne

 alt=  alt=

Cinemax/HBO has BEVERLY LYNNE to thank for those guilty after-dark pleasures and she’s certainly liberal when it comes to the carnal scenes. With the features “Teeny Weeny Bikini Squad” and “Busty Housewives of Beverly Hills” next up for Beverly, the luscious blonde is surely the muse of cable erotica. Set to steam up the underground Film Festival PollyGrind as a Special Guest, both “The Atonement of Janis Drake” and web series “Tanya X” will see BEVERLY at her naughty best. Sublimely marrying comedy and sex, she’s been titillating audiences year on year in a host of softcore content that doesn’t shy from its nudity and explicitness. Of note is the sheer number of films she’s done with the word Bikini in them namely Bikini Chain Gang, Bikini Royale and Triple Bikini Trouble…Pretty sure no other actress has achieved such a feat…) While she has entertained thoughts of improving on her god-give assets, BEVERLY should be commended for forgoing breast implants and banking on having the irresistible all natural body.

At the BEVERLY LYNN OFFICIAL BLOG, one can read up on the racy exploits of this revered Queen Of Late Night TV. Some may have the dim view that skin flicks are objectifying women but here’s a woman who has a fervent belief in her abilities and gone on to take the single genre of erotica by storm. The argument of exploitation shouldn’t hold water when these days, nobody bats an eyelid if Kate Winslet goes topless who by the way has bared all whilst partaking in countless sex scenes. In fact why don’t we marvel at the light-heartedness BEVERLY can bring to the table and if there’s T&A in the offing, we’ll be rubbing our hands with glee. After all life should be viewed as a stimulating, fun ride and Beverly as the goddess to steer us on a sensual path.

7 Hot Actresses At Shriekfest 2011

Audrey Walker in “Rage”

 alt=

http://vimeo.com/14394554

She’s in one of the most brutal home invasion movies ever seen and Audrey Walker delivers a roller-coaster of emotions as Crystal, the wife of a man targeted by a dude called ‘The Biker’. The physical and mental torture dished out by the nasty invader on her will be one of the most talked about scenes and in my opinion the most intense she’s ever done. This could indeed be the role that puts her on the map thanks to its unsettling tone. Be it the darker subject matter or otherwise, she’s glowingly relatable on every level and one will find that she’s just as wonderful doing comedies. She once said she never feels more at home than she does on set and that’s precisely why she has the ability to connect with viewers. I feel blessed that she sent me her autograph as Audrey could very well be a gem of an actress in our midst.

Barbara Nedeljakova in “Isle Of Dogs” & “The Hike

 alt=

Euro Vixen Barbara Nedeljakova has seen her star on a meteoric rise ever since she burst onto the horror scene back in 2005. This year alone, we have seen the Slovak cutie in “Children Of The Corn:Genesis” and is primed to thrill audiences in two features screening at Shriekfest. Well we may always remember her as duplicitous temptress from Hostel, her turns in “Isle Of Dogs” and “The Hike” will see her as a victim of circumstance. Whether she’s a trophy wife of a cuckolded husband or a hiker whose vacation in the woods turn deadly, she’ll be enticing every step of the way! I believe her husky voice may have something to do with her sensuality and with her appearing alongside Robert Englund in “Strippers vs Werewolves”, there’s talk that she’s garnered a cult following.

Sarah Lassez in “The Dead Inside”

 alt=  alt=

We crave our quirky yet saucy characters in the independent scene and Canadian cutie Sarah Lassez certainly thrives in the horror-musical of “The Dead Inside”. She’s actually an author in real life having penned the acclaimed memoir, ‘Psychic Junkie’ and Sarah does indeed play one, a writer of a series of zombie novellas called, The Dead Survive, who slowly descends into a state of mental illness. Eating her from the inside, possession never look this eccentric until now! Known for being an excellent multi-dimensional actress, Sarah was once said to resemble a better-looking version of Julia Roberts. Anchoring some of the more thought-provoking roles, an enigmatic performer would be my choice of praise to describe her onscreen work. Her dedication to making everything she does authentic while in character is also praiseworthy.

_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Lynn Lowry in “Divination”

 alt=

One of the sexiest legends to ever grace horror, Lynn Lowry continues to be a dazzler of the big screen, seeing how she’s widely revered as a cult star. Pivotal in exploitation classics such as “I Drink Your Blood”, “The Crazies and “Score”, her nubile innocence yet uninhibited eroticism was perfect for some of the more steamy moments and she has always maintained her comfort with nudity. She’s someone who owns her role, treating it like an art form, hence her many polished performances over the years. In the creepy short film “Divination”, Lynn is a bogus psychic running fraudulent seances until a young woman becomes her latest client and threatens to expose her in deathly fashion. A scene stealer of her generation and many more after, now is the time to hold in high regard the exceptional Lynn Lowry.

Michelle Tomlinson in “My Undeadly”

 alt=  alt=

Michelle Tomlinson has a special place in our hearts and it seems that watching her in Zombie movies is equally intoxicating. All three flesh-eating dead features she’s been in couldn’t be more thrilling for the very reason that we get to enjoy Michelle’s hypnotizing presence. She was all sassy as the touch chick in the award-winning gorefest “Brain Dead” and was a standout in “George’s Intervention”, delving into comedic territory as part of a Zombie Help Group. In her latest tale “My Undeadly”, Michelle is a woman who unfortunately becomes the food of choice for a hungry, brain snacking reanimated corpse. She projects a real fear as the victim or is she one at all! There lies one of her many charms; threading between vulnerability and strength in many of her roles. She’s also a most genial Scream Queen, well-loved by both fans and peers alike.

Ginger Pullman in “The Millenium Bug”

 alt=

Watching those behind-the-scenes clips of Ginger Pullman discussing prosthetic vaginas and third nipples from her movie “The Millenium Bug” should be of intrigue to any horror fan. I was instantly hooked on how funny she can be. It really didn’t matter that those boobs on display were of a body double as she’s a bombshell nonetheless, although in this film, she’s rather creepy! As hillbilly clan member, Pearlene Crawford, she shows her villainous side under some macabre makeup and all this right before a humongous, bad-ass freak of nature starts chowing down on the unfortunate in this maniacal creature feature. For all the effects and gore, a monster movie does indeed depend on a talented cast and we get a taste of Ginger ably handling a stirring character. Aside from acting, we should also note that Ginger’s a mesmerizing fashion model.

Keiko Agena in “Road Rage”

 alt=  alt=

Keiko Agena may not be your traditional horror starlet having captured the hearts of so many as Lane Kim from “Gilmore Girls” but we’re still passionate for her no matter the genre. She stars in the short film “Road Rage” as a female driver with temperamental issues who gets more than she bargained for after crossing paths with a stranger. Seeing her bruise-covered face in an on-set photo, expect her to fans the flames of trouble and promptly dismiss the belief that Asians are a patient, sentient lot. All i can say, Keiko is an ageless beauty who has thus far shone in everything she’s done. In fact, I was disappointed that her stint on “House M.D.” was a guest starrer; Imagine the witty banter that could have gone on between her Dr Cheng and Dr House. Never one to be pigeon-holed, she’s proving to be wildly popular on her own terms.

Must Watch Hotties At The Toronto Film Fest 2011 Part 1

Antonia Campbell-Hughes in “The Other Side Of Sleep” and “Albert Nobbs”

 alt=

As one of her movies, the arthouse “Bright Star” implies, Antonia Campbell-Hughes is all of that, with an acting caliber that’s bound to enchant every time. Two of her films are gracing this year’s Toronto Film Fest; “The Other Side Of Sleep” sees her melancholic interpretation of a sleepwalker expected to receive rave reviews, having already made a sterling impression at Cannes. Antonia also returns to the period drama genre as a lovely young maid in “Albert Nobbs” opposite Glenn Close, unmistakably reveling in this must-see gender bending role. In fact, Glenn’s varied career choices is a point of admiration for Antonia who herself has amassed a diverse body of work. This Irish beauty is no stranger to horror (truthfully absorbing in “The Task”) nor comedy where she rose to fame in British series “Lead Balloon”. Utilizing her own personal experiences, this fashionably delicate actress has crafted richly layered characters we can’t help but pine for!

Greta Gerwig in “Damsels In Distress”

 alt=

She came out of nowhere to ascent the throne of indie queen-dom and former playwright turned in-demand actress Greta Gerwig has not looked back ever since. From partaking in sex scenes and nudity with Ben Stiller in “Greenburg” to sparkling in the micro-budget “Hannah Takes The Stairs”, Greta thrives on having an understated allure yet she has an unbridled radiance that’s impossible to ignore. If one has to make comparisons, she could just be the new Chloë Sevigny! You’ll be smitten with her in “Damsels In Distress” as Violet, the leader of a clique of college girls who decide to teach the new girl in school their socially acceptable ways….could just be this generation’s “Clueless” by the sound of it! Even at 26, she’s utterly believable as a demure teen. In Hollywood, there’s always room for another Greta to take our breath away! The very reality that Greta continues to grace films regardless of its scale speaks of her authenticity as an artist.

Mary Birdsong in “The Descendents”

 alt=

Saw a pic of Mary Birdsong in a frilly bikini and while she’s obviously a minx, Mary manages to inject humor when describing how revealing it was. She may be self-deprecating of her sexiness but we all know she’s a turn on and not just physically! If you’ve read the interviews she’s given, here is a lady with a magnetism of the cerebrally amusing kind. There’s one word that rings true when articulating how eclectic Mary Birdsong is and that’s FUN! It’s as if she’s blessed with that saucy irreverence and punchy humor that’s clearly relatable. Let’s admit Mary was a huge reason why “Reno 911″ became an addictive show thanks to her irrepressible comic timing as Deputy Cheresa Kimball, the alleged closet lesbian story arc being one of the highlights for fans. In the drama “The Descendents”, will she go all serious in those scenes with that handsome devil George Clooney?? It’s a no-brainer that Mary has got us hooked on that wacky yet endearing personality of hers.

Juno Temple in “Killer Joe”

 alt=

She’s been christened A Bright Young Thing, one in the next generation of British actresses destined for stardom and already Juno Temple has her indie cred status cemented. There seems to be a wave of starlets from the British Isles that grows unabated and Juno is bearing all the hallmarks of a top talent. Building a reputation for frank, sensitive portrayals of fragile women as recently seen in “Kaboom” and “Little Birds”. Venturing into the mainstream somewhat, she’s also been roped into Christopher Nolan’s newest Batman venture “The Dark Knight Rises” as Holly Robinson, who will eventually become Catwoman’s protege. Before that, she’s gets dragged into a dangerous liaison of the murderous kind in “Killer Joe” with Matthew McConaughey as the titular assassin who demands collateral in the shape of Juno’s teen character. She’s as potent onscreen as her wild, frizzy blonde hair that’s often been called flower-child enticing!

Beth Grant in “The Artist”

 alt=  alt=

It’s criminal that an actress such as the stature of Beth Grant was left out for the trailer of the movie “The Artist” (above). Granted it’s a supporting role for her but surely her accomplishments over the years warrant a tease of her character at the very least…come on now, The Coen Brothers did sign her up for “No Country For Old Men”…she is that amazing! There’s already people who have seen “The Artist” that are leaving plaudits on her Facebook Page as I am writing this which she totally deserves. One of the most under-rated character actresses, even when the material is not up to scratch, Beth finds a way to rise above and deliver fascinating albeit at times kooky performances. Some of the pivotal scenes in a cult classics such as “Donnie Darko” and the dramedy “Little Miss Sunshine” ensure she’s there to be memorable no matter how fleeting that may be. Away from the camera, Beth is immensely witty and funny, traits that continue to make her one to adore for the longest time.
