Quirky Saucy: Kat Primeau

 alt=  alt=

Effervescence is a trait synonymous with the very pretty KAT PRIMEAU, an adept performer who also happens to be a singer. Everyone should already know how enthusiastic I can be when featuring cute blondes and lavishing KAT with fondness comes naturally. There’s a sweetness revolving around her and she has a bouncy liveliness that’s certain to bring a smile to anyone’s face. How about her penchant for experimental music where she’s known as one-half of Su.meau and with the duo’s upcoming album in the works, KAT’s stirring up a bundle of excitement. In the arena of improv comedy, she has lit up the stage in a myriad of plays, a standout thanks to her consistently engaging performances.

Visit the KAT PRIMEAU OFFICIAL SITE and you can read up on all the glowing reviews she’s received in the different mediums she’s dramatized. This beauty from Ohio would easily be ranked in the crop of sweethearts we adore and while many could point out how similar her looks are to Kate Hudson, the charisma KAT possesses are distinctively hers. Check her out as a slightly neurotic woman entertaining thoughts of divorcing her husband in the funny short “Silly Pants”. When it comes to eccentricity onscreen, KAT is persuasively delightful be it in deadpan mode or eliciting laughter from her captive audience. A perky, joyful talent such as Miss KAT PRIMEAU is one to savor…:)

Rising Starlet: Taya Asimos

When it comes to lovable accessibility, TAYA ASIMOS is living proof and she has always been an ace in the pleasingly genial department. In my opinion, when an actress keeps her fans updated on her latest projects as well as take the time to answer their Facebook posts (despite her busy schedule), she’ll steal plenty of hearts. That’s on top of her being comfortable in front of the camera and off it, her charismatic disposition the delight of many who’s worked with her as well as those whom she’s touched. Currently the enthralling TV host of “Best of the Bay” and “Best of LA”, she’s takes you to the most illustrious hotspots from San Francisco to LA. Well she did grow up in the suburbs of Burlingame, the Californian city known for its fine dining and shopping so you can say she was destined for greatness as a lifestyle hostess. Pay a visit to the TAYA ASIMOS OFFICIAL SITE and fall in love with her.

On the acting front, she first impressed in the supernatural short “The Wanderer” as a woman who believes her cousin’s death is not one of suicide but something more sinister. Then she went on to fulfill her comedic potential in several webseries which can be seen on “Funny or Die” and the humorously, under-rated “The Samurai of Strongsville, Ohio”. There’s 3 sweethearts in this one with TAYA joining Camille Mana and Abby Wathen, all of whom are a pleasure to watch. Actually, I first saw her in the erotic indie “Orgies and The Meaning Of Life as Samantha, the very first love of a lothario who can only perform in bed when he dreams of mass sex. Check out the scene (above) where one of his fantasies is re-enacted with every one of his conquests spelling out his bed manners in a steamy jacuzzi. Sounds more like a nightmare when all your dirty laundry is laid out to bare although no dude would mind having so many beautiful ladies in his presence and TAYA is indeed one to get excited about. When it comes to blue-eyed blondes who can fuel undivided fascination, TAYA ASIMOS is your gal.

Indie Princess: Chelsey Garner

 alt=  alt=

Horror Hound Weekend starts on Friday, 11th November and it’s a huge pleasure to spotlight Chelsey Garner, starlet from the highly rated “Down The Road”. Since she was the first of the 3 hot actresses from this retro looking horror flick to befriend me as her fan on Facebook, I’m having her grace the Actress Obsession Blog at the outset. Or maybe it’s her comely pair of green eyes that would be bewitching on the screen irregardless of the period she’s in character. After all, she’s a Southern belle and her hospitable personality would have everyone grow fond of her in no time at all. In “Down The Road”, she’s Michele, one of several fun-seeking college students who are escaping the clutches of their problematic lives only to end up as sacrificial lambs of a vindictive killer. The throwback to the slashers of ’80s and ’90s boomed ever since Ti West’s House Of The Devil caused a stir with its slow burning suspense. “Down The Road” replicates the dated shlock but this time purists will not wait long to be thrilled by the pace and violence. Chelsey’s pained expression near the end of the trailer (above) surely spurs you on to catch the film and find out what fate may befall her.

In fact, she could well be following in the footsteps of actresses such as Scout Taylor-Compton and Danielle Harris who have ascended the throne of perennial slasher sweethearts. The duo I just mentioned were in smaller, independent films (Scout was in “Wicked Things” & Danielle was in “Urban Legend”) before making it big so in the same vein, Chelsey is more than capable of becoming prominent. Having recently read that her aim is to inspire audiences by building a rapport with them, her elegant yet relatable attributes should hold her in good stead. Becoming one of the rallying voices for women in independent cinema has been a mission of mine from the very start and the fascinating Chelsey Garner makes it all worthwhile.

Sizzling Cutie: Kaitlyn Black

 alt=  alt=

There’s something mesmeric when admiring the virtues of actresses hailing from the great state of Ohio and Miss KAITLYN BLACK is one such beauty. We’ve fallen for a Ohioan on TV before, the day Katie Holmes burst onto the scene in “Dawson’s Creek” and KAITLYN could very well do the same as she stars in the Rachel Bilson vehicle “Hart Of Dixie”. Quite possibly its her Midwestern coquettish charms that could propel KAITLYN from Hometown Hottie to TV Hottie This Fall. Her flirtatious turn as Zoe in “Raising Hope” including a surprise disrobing at an art class and getting high on doped out tea is likely to prompt even more fascination. It’s great seeing her as an agent provocateur in the comedy series, crazily stirring up trouble for Lucas Neff who plays Jimmy Chance. She’ll be an exciting prospect to watch amidst the heartwarming tenderness in “Hart Of Dixie”.

Over the years she’s also honed her classical background and theater experience having performed in over 15 musical/theatrical productions as well as being a dance teacher, director and choreographer. KAITLYN was also amazing on the web sitcom FLOATERS which garnered the first ever Emmy for an online scripted comedy or drama. As the naive blonde Erika who is a picture of positivity, she’s lovably unpretentious and shows enough for us to be ecstatic over her. Switch on your televisions because in the coming weeks, we’ll be treated to yet another blossoming starlet on the small screen.

Rising Starlet: Jessica Whitaker

 alt=  alt=

Ever since Katie Holmes embodied the quintessential girl next door Joey in “Dawson’s Creek”, we’ve always held an undying fascination for cuteness and actress JESSICA WHITAKER radiates with a similar purity. Just like Katie, Jessica also hails from the state of Ohio…indeed they both have gorgeous genes! That doesn’t mean she can’t turn on the sexiness once in a while as she did belly-dancing (above) in the horror romp “Killjoy 3″. JESSICA plays Sandy who gets plunged into the world of the demonic clown-faced Killjoy and has to save her skin by means of seduction. One can see JESSICA had fun sashaying her flawless body and for me the most memorably amusing part was when as Sandy, she revealed to Killjoy that she’s a virgin hence sealing the tempting act. Check out the behind the scenes video (also above) of that “love-making” scene plus interview snippets with the lovely JESSICA. She’s an absolute sweetheart and interestingly enough, everything was filmed in China. Harking back to the good old days when horror didn’t take itself too seriously or populated with emo kids and having JESSICA as the heroine was wonderfully apt! She’s massively easy on the eyes and I love that she’s allowed the license to be playful.

JESSICA does traverse the horror route once more in suspense thriller “The Guest” which was an official selection at several festivals last year and stars Alyshia Ochse (i’m doing up a feature on her soon too). She’s also in a series of dramatic shorts, one of which is “Grass Is In Never Greener”. So fetchingly serene, it’s easy to get ourselves infatuated with her. In the prosperous arena of independent films, keep a watchful eye on the beautiful JESSICA WHITAKER whose flourishing talents are not too be missed.
