Rising Starlet: Florence Hartigan

 alt=  alt=

Hailing from New Zealand, FLORENCE HARTIGAN has a magical cuteness as well as voice to incite adoration. While the DVD for “Entrance” has yet to reach the shores of many countries, Florence together with leading lady Suziey Block (which i featured before) are the eye-catching duo in the indie slasher. Unconventionality breeds avid interest in this modern times and I’ve always gravitated to the uniqueness that talents such as FLORENCE can exhibit. Certainly as a vocalist, she’s enthralls with her folksy sound over poetic grooves that manages to tell a story. In terms of features, FLORENCE has a cherubic appeal most of us will find rather fascinating. She has such a gentle persona and has been ever so nice to me on Facebook…:)

For the lucky people in New York City, this adorable brunette is performing at Hotel Cafe on May 14th. It’s the chance to watch a singer who has been compared to Angie Hart from Aussie group Frente seeing how FLORENCE has delicate vocals on such a melodic plane. Watch her music video “One Too Many Mornings” (above) for it has a soothing effect for the soul with its stripped down intimacy. Utilizing a common Kiwi praise, FLORENCE is indeed sweet-as, a term New Zealanders often say when they mean a person is “cool” or “awesome”! Hope she loves it!

Indie Princess: Lanie Hoyo

 alt=  alt=

My final feature on the amazing women of the AFI Film Fest calls attention to the pleasing talents of Portland actress LANIE HOYO. If you’ve at the Hollywood Boulevard film fest, check her out in “Light Of Mine”. Featuring Rebecca Sanborn and the vivacious LANIE, it’s a beautiful tale of the fortitude that resides within us all in the face of impossible odds. It delves into the life of a photographer who is degenerating into blindness and his subsequent journey with his wife (Rebecca Sanborn) before darkness envelops him leading him to discover the true meaning of courage. LANIE herself has been roundly praised by the producers of “Light Of Mine” for giving a heartfelt performance which I’m certain everyone can’t wait to see. LANIE also recently made her television debut on an episode of “Leverage” giving us another avenue to glimpse the wonderful her.

If you’re into Parker Posey then LANIE will be right up your alley since she has a similar off-kilter charm which we’ll be able to enjoy when “Georgie’s Big Break” is released. Guest-starring cultured personalities including Fight Club’s Chuck Palahniuk and Monica Drake (whose story this short film was adapted from), LANIE plays a single mother aspiring to reach the fame of accomplished authors. With the added burden of an infant, she tries her luck at Portland’s largest literary fest. We don’t often get to see the scholarly world and from LANIE’s interesting turn as Georgie in the teaser (above), this is will be a draw for viewers. There’s a favorable likability she instills in her character that makes us all want to see her succeed. Speaking of success, it’s right around the corner for LANIE HOYO.

Sizzling Cutie: Christie Lynn Smith

 alt=  alt=

CHRISTIE LYNN SMITH is throughly likable and her beaming smile alone should reflect how much of a sweetheart she is. Just the other day, talk show Host Craig Ferguson was marveling at how young Melissa Joan Hart (star of Sabrina The Teenage Witch,Melissa & Joey) looked and CHRISTIE has that similarly youthful freshness going on, flushed with an exuberant glow. Of course horror fans will recognize her from the excellent modern day remake of “The Crazies” that sees her fearing for her life as Deardra Farnum after her quiet town is overrun by the violently insane! For someone whose features are so ebullient, she’s been in some rather dark material for example playing a serial killer in “The Last Stop Cafe” and a riveting cameo on SYFY Channel’s “The Cursed” (check out the clip above). Delight in the comprehensive list of CHRISTIE’s Performance Videos detailing her first-rate work on the twin mediums of Film and Television. My favorite has to be the edge-of-your seat scene from “The Crazies”, the one of her in front of the deadly blades of the combine harvester…many of us must have thought she’d met a ghastly ending right there! Oh wait she did expire gruesomely on “Bones”, having her character’s severed head shoved in a freezer.

Having read one of her interviews where she regaled her thrilling experiences on set, I’ve discovered CHRISTIE has a fabulous sense of humor, a by-product of her bubbly personality that i’m sure. Head over to the CHRISTIE LYNN SMITH OFFICIAL SITE and you will discover an update related to her juicy guest-starring role as a sexy heiress on “Weeds”. Salivate at the thought of watching her on next week’s episode as she’s on a collision course with Mary-Louise Parker’s Nancy Botwin. A consummate character actress, CHRISTIE brims with an evergreen charm that’s winning admirers the world over.

Hot TV Vixens Of Summer Part 5

Megan Duffy in “Torchwood:Miracle Day”

 alt=

Summer might be winding down as we await the advent of Fall but there’s still plenty of gems to catch on TV. Redheads have and will always be a guilty pleasure and in the luscious form of actress Megan Duffy, you’re in for a treat! Her scene-stealing appearance alongside Bill Pullman in the latest episode of “Torchwood: Miracle Day” should justify her glorious onscreen talents. As the coy escort Claire, one has to love how Megan teases, prods and cuts down to size the child rapist Oswald Danes, the consistently excellent Bill Pullman in suitably creepy mode. Her lustrous reddish curly locks proves to be as much a flirtation quality as her kittenish loveliness. I’ll always be fond of Megan for attributing to the increase in viewership of the Actress Obsession Blog by having a link of it on her website. It’s a special gesture from such a wonderful lady.

Makinna Ridgway in “Femme Fatales”

 alt=

Makinna Ridgway was born to play a seductress on “Femme Fatales” as she has all the fine elements of a Brunette Bombshell. Her classic comeliness and enticing radiance as the serial killer Angelica were clear to see in the episode Angels and Demons (above) that includes some very risque scenes. That Makinna has stimulated both our minds and bodies, titillating us with her lissome, graceful figure in that memorable dance sequence is a measure of her ability to turn us on. Check her out in the hilarious clip “Pizza Sex” that has seen her spiced up the digital world albiet of the cerebral kind. Recently I re-connected with her on Facebook and was pleasantly surprised to know that won best actress award for her last film Taylor’s Way. If you’ve been trawling the net, you’ll find there’s been tons of positive response for this smart and immensely sassy beauty.

Brittany Finamore in “Rizzoli & Isles”

 alt=

Sometimes we come across an actress whose magnetism emphasizes how much of an impression she has made in our eyes. Enter Brittany Finamore whose underrated yet absorbing performance in both sequels of “Pulse” at her tender age back in ’08 should really deserve much more credit. She’s no doubt a flawless looker, a ravishing cutie we can’t help but be enthused about and she backs all of it up with solid acting. Brittany’s emotive range as an unfortunate victim of circumstance in a recent episode of “Rizzoli & Isles” is amazing. As a badly beaten rape victim, she convincingly manages to come across as sympathetic enough to make tears well up. This sweetheart can sure take us down the darkest of roads! Young Hollywood is prime to excite with rising starlet Brittany in its corner and there’s plenty more to come from her.

ALLY WALKER in “The Protector”

 alt=

From face value alone, Ally Walker might have a seemingly aloof exterior but she sure has that take charge cougar-ish sexiness. I fondly recall her days on the criminal drama series “Profiler” and she’s as elegantly refined now as she was back then. While many prefer not to be typecast, Ally has always been conversant in delivering the complexities within a character, often showing the heart of a woman’s worth who happens to be on the right side of the law. If it ain’t broke, why fix it and as the leading lady of the newest procedural drama of “The Protector”, she’s reveling in the lighthearted themes of the series, a departure from the more serious tones of say “CSI”. I was rather surprised she got hate mail for her work as the much loathed Agent Stahl on “Sons Of Anarchy” but that’s a sign of how much of an effect Ally can have on audiences.

Hot TV Vixen: Amy Stewart

 alt=
 alt=

Touted as being an engaging funnywoman who has distinguished herself in a myriad of TV Shows, AMY STEWART is just as enigmatic in darker fare. In the recent episode “Rebel Without A Pause” from the drama series “Rizzoli & Isles”, she’s thrust into the challenging persona of a rape victim whose offspring from that heinous act seeks revenge on the perpetrator, a respected professor. AMY’s strong features excellently fleshes out the furrowed lines of a painful past etched on the face of her character. Putting a tough affront, the woman with a bitter trauma she much rather see stay hidden is agonizingly authentic in the capable hands of the gifted AMY. Playing against type can so often yield warm approval for any actress. While she’s provided hours of pleasure in comedic turns on “Desperate Housewives” and “Las Vegas”, it was “Monkey Love” opposite Jeremy Renner that initially got everyone noticing how natural she is in fun roles. Can’t wait for AMY to dive into some boisterous screwball comedy after her emotionally invested stint on “Rizzoli & Isles”.

Have a look at her reel at the AMY STEWART OFFICIAL SITE to see her get under the skin of varying guises on some of the hottest shows on television. Her beautiful expressive eyes is the foundation from which she builds an assortment of emotions onscreen, varying the depth of each captivating performance. There’s plenty to suggest that AMY is on the right track to becoming TV’s Sweetheart as she has an innate charm that’s genuinely interesting and likable.

Hot Web Vixen Of Summer: Marissa Skell

 alt=  alt=

http://vimeo.com/18489093

She may be the new kid on the block in the popular web series “Anyone But Me” but in Season 3, MARISSA SKELL is in the illustrious company of Digital Vixens such as Rachael Hip-Flores and Nicole Pacent. MARISSA is one yummy starlet with fans of the series be it on Hulu, Youtube and pretty much everywhere on the net acknowledging her hotness. The best part is we get to enjoy the sumptuous blonde anytime, anywhere 24/7 and that is essential especially since our lives can get a little busy. Tapping on the shift in social norms in the US as we as people are beginning to accept our gay bethren. After all aren’t we all children of the world…do we not bleed when we are cut? “Anyone But Me” has a huge following precisely because it’s a celebration of young love and that life is not about fitting into what society wants us to be. MARISSA portrays Carey, the new love interest of street smart Aster played beautifully by Nicole Pacent. Carey is the artistic soul that provides much needed comfort to Aster’s love troubles and becomes the yin to Aster’s yang. Obviously we’ll get our dose of girl-on-girl kissing scenes and the chemistry between MARISSA and Nicole are intimately spot on when they’re in the throes of passion. There’s no better time than show our affection for this comely sweetheart by visiting the MARISSA SKELL OFFICIAL SITE.

One of MARISSA’s grittiest performances came in the episode of “Criminal Minds” as a victim of torture by electrocution dished out by the insane son of notorious serial killer “The Butcher”. She had me gripped in such an unnerving way, I’m bound to praise her dramatic chops. Previously, she had impressively fleshed out a similar state of duress in another scene from “The Mentalist”. She’s come a long since her reality TV days on “Scream Queens”, developing into a coveted, multi-genre talent. She’s proven that hard work and honing your craft in the business does indeed pay off! Oh and don’t forget her pleasant personality that’s so infectious to a fan like me. I for one can’t wait to do an interview with MARISSA after this feature which she has so kindly indicated to me she will accede to.

Hot Blonde Of Summer: Jules Hartley

 alt=
 alt=
 alt=

Meeting a Femme Fatale Starlet in the flesh has to be chalked up as one of the greatest moments in the ebb and flow of life. Actress Jules Hartley visited Singapore (she’s here for 5 days) and besides taking her sight-seeing, I got to hang out with her at my home…how cool is that! I’m awe-strucked by her beauty and also the warmth she has for people as well as animals. We chatted about her racy stint on “Femme Fatales” and her experiences being in Asia yet there’s two things that is exceptional about her. As a person, she genuinely cares about local culture, something that is diminishing in our world today due to globalisation. As a performer, she has only kind words for her peers and stresses how grateful she is to be a working actress. That’s the measure Of A Woman in this case the enthralling Miss JULES HARTLEY…:) Coincidentally, she was the leading lady in the drama “The Measure Of A Man”, her most emotional role to date as Lizzy, the daughter at her father’s death bed who reminisces how special her dad has been in her life. A standout tearjerker all the more poignant thanks to a touchingly tender performance by JULES.

While she does look like an enticing mix of Heather Graham (you have to see the pic of her as Roller Girl) and Mischa Barton, JULES has a vulnerability on screen that parallels that of Jennifer Jason Leigh. On “Americas Most Wanted” she played a 19-year old runaway turning tricks for a pimp, showcasing her range as a damaged teen searching for a way out of her predicament. Of course if you’ve seen her in the episode ‘Help Me Rhonda’ of “Femme Fatales”, she’s all edgy titillation, the dark red lipstick accentuating her manipulative gangster moll persona. After all, her character is called Molly Trevor, full of sauciness especially the scene of her cavorting with her very much married paramour…Scandalous! Be sure to check out the JULES HARTLEY OFFICIAL SITE where she is praised for both her engaging acting and melodious singing.

Jules has also modeled for top fashion brands such as Kate Spade, Prada and Ralph Lauren. On top of wowing audiences on stage, she recently started the charming web series “Forbidden Fruit Kitchen”, a cooking show using the freshest sometimes exotic food. During her current trip around the world, JULES has been researching the unique local fare of the countries she visited and I was glad to show her around town discovering unique delicacies. She’s a major reason why I have such passion for blondes, her pleasantness overflowing, her delicate allure more than exquisite. What more can one ask for when not only did I get two autographs specially signed by JULES, she gave me an adoring kiss. She may be taking a hiatus from acting endeavors but she’s truly unforgettable in every way…:) I cherished the enjoyable time I spent with such a kind, soulful gal and here’s hoping I’ll get to meet her once more, this side or the other.

Catch These Sexy Sirens During Cannes And Beyond

Tammy Klein in “Black Moon”

 alt=
 alt=

Despite there not being a trailer for her short film “Black Moon”, I still find myself getting excited to feature sexy sweetie Tammy Klein. Her stimulating performance in “Milf” as the threesome-seeking yoga instructor has been one of her most striking roles to date. Following that up with her female revolutionary character in “Black Moon” is yet another crowning achievement. It’s now time to be smitten with this versatile screen vixen! She’s a picture of sensuality in the trailer (above) of her new comedy “Emergency Contact”…..YUMMY!!

Emily Browning in “Sleeping Beauty”

 alt=

We can’t get enough of the sweet young Australian actresses plying their trade in Hollywood. Their charm offensive is growing unabated and Emily Browning has to be one of the hottest properties around. Her unabashed nudity in “Sleeping Beauty” is hands down worth every cent of the price of the ticket to watch this shocking film. A must-watch film by a talented female director Julia Leigh and fronted by the eroticism of Emily Browning.

Elizabeth Olsen in “Martha, Marcy May Marlene”

 alt=

Not one to follow the teenybopper turn fashion diva lifestyle of her sisters, Elizabeth Olsen is becoming an indie princess on her own terms. I did see her go glam at Cannes so it’s a matter of time before she goes voguish. What’s up with the abundance of nudity over there! Elizabeth disrobes in the creepy “Martha Marcy May Marlene” playing a torn woman who can’t quite escape the cult she’s in. Chilling yet strangely compelling.

Katy Mixon in “Take Shelter”

 alt=  alt=

When talking about sexiness and cuteness in the same sentence, there’s one lady that represents the finest of both. Yet again, we are deprived of a trailer to feast our eyes on the luscious Katy Mixon. But i reckon she will make you love her in her upcoming short film “Take Shelter” which has won the Critics Week Prize. She’s been called God’s Gift to Men thanks to her curvaceous body yet her child-like innocence is utterly hypnotic.

Kirsten Dunst in “Melancholia”

 alt=

While Director Lars Von Trier has infamously gone stir crazy with them Nazi rants, I choose to focus on the amazing work of Kirsten Dunst in “Melancholia”. Obviously we’re not gonna stop thinking of Kirsten parading in her birthday suit…:) News just in Mr Lars has been kicked out of Cannes but don’t let that tarnish the riveting existentialism of the epic “Melancholia”. Bring on the drama even before its premiere…HOW CLEVER of the Von Trier camp!!

Elena Anaya in “The Skin I Live In”

 alt=

One of the most twisted tales ever brought to screen, “The Skin I Live In” deserves a cult following be it in Spain or overseas. The vivacious Elena Anaya plays a woman who unwittingly becomes a tool of vengeance in a mad scientist experimentation by the revenge-seeking plastic surgeon (Antonio Banderas). The Spanish Nutty Professor needs his muse and saucy Elena Anaya proves she doesn’t need any surgery to stir our loins.
