Indie Princess: Alyssa Lobit

 alt=  alt=

There’s many flavors to ALYSSA LOBIT and that’s key to the wonderment one gets from appreciating her from face value. If you’ve seen her photos on facebook, ALYSSA has the demure sauciness going on, doll-like features that readily ignites fascination on any given day. Her multi-ethnic roots of French, Scottish and Korean does mean she has distinctive good looks to go along with her colorful personality. The ALYSSA LOBIT OFFICIAL SITE which has the awesome banner “Alyssa in Wonderland” is representative of the richness of this actress/writer/filmmaker. She did write for the comedy horror flick “Among Friends”, the directorial debut of Scream Queen Danielle Harris which also sees her re-uniting with long time friend Jennifer Blanc onscreen. It does pay to have that network of talents who always come together in support of a project.

Hot on the heels of their appearance on perennial festival favorite “The Victim”, exposure should be already mounting for ALYSSA. In the drama “The Things We Carry”, it’s her subtleness in handling the subject matter that got many raving and aroused a flood of emotions. Recently I was at a Blogger’s Party attended by a bevy of gorgeous women and came to the realization Asian or Asian-American (in the case of ALYSSA) should be celebrated more often. Add to that their gifts be it behind the camera or front and centre will lead to even more buzz for ALYSSA and her peers.

Expressive features on an actress is to be coveted and CATHERINE WARNER has invitingly, compelling attributes that stirs hearts. This can be seen in the number of reviews praising her heavenly personality, especially those reflecting on her performance in the tense short film “Earrings”. From the subtle, multi-layered execution of her tragic role to impressing as the leading lady in what was essentially a limited-dialogue content, CATHERINE made believers out of several independent film buffs. At Shockfest 2012, she is again one of the leads of another short “Nibble” which this time delves into horror territory. While we have yet to see a trailer, the synopsis points to a creature feature and tells of a typical young man who apparently has something living in the confines of his walls at home.

Sizzling Cutie: Laura Harrison

 alt=  alt=

A delectable hottie on a hit show! How can we not be transfixed on LAURA HARRISON who guest stars on the 1-hour Season Finale of the 8th season of Weeds. It’s true that brunettes rule on the often vulgar dark comedy led by who else but cheeky and saucy Mary-Louise Parker otherwise known as the anti-heroine Nancy Botwin. The same can be said of Ms. LAURA HARRISON who has an expressively charming face, warranting a beloved response from people who know and have seen her performed. The climatic 2-in-1 episode sees LAURA as Cinnamon, one of the loyal disciples of Guru Doug who extols the virtues of being a “concubine” in his cult to Natasha Lyonne’s trashy love interest of Shane, Nancy’s son. Got to love LAURA’s deadpan delivery, funny yet precisely representative of the way cult followers are programmed to be almost robotic in their behavior, answering to the whims of their leader.

SUSANNAH HART JONES makes it easy for many a viewer to fall for her because she is both sweet and photogenic. One of the most indelible things which she has said was when describing herself as a free spirit. Thoroughly spunky in both body and spirit, SUSANNAH is incredibly gorgeous whether she’s modeling in fashionable threads or essaying a role. Think of SUSANNAH as the heavenly mix of Winona Ryder and Lacey Chabert, her attractive features proving to be unquestionably magnetic. In the indie horror “The Victorville Massacre”, she formed the triumvirate of hotties with Jen Nikolaus and Sonja O’ Hara who were terrorized by a serial killer. http://vimeo.com/35179411

No wonder Michael Fassbender was addicted to her in the explicit drama “Shame” and so will you especially since Alexandra Vino is a foxy spokesmodel for Paradise Bikinis. The blonde bombshell is considered as one of the fasting rising starlets in entertainment and she was every bit as eye-catching on her stint on the HBO series “How To Make It In America”. Steadily impressing audiences, Alexandra is headed for big things in Tinseltown. I’m eternally grateful to her for posting the article I did on her official website. Get ready to watch her shine!

Canadian Vixen: Jodie Dowdall

 alt=  alt=

Ever so often, we give plaudits to the rising talents of Canada and the charming JODIE DOWDALL is a svelte brunette everyone should know about. Having recently heard how nice fellow Canadian Emily VanCamp, star of TV series “Revenge” is on set (one of her co-stars vouches that she is extremely down to earth and as lovely in personality as she is on screen), you’ll find those same qualities in JODIE. She did warmed many a heart as social worker Nancy in the Hallmark Original “The Santa Suit”. As the love interest of Kevin Sorbo’s greedy CEO turned Santa Claus in this tender drama, JODIE lines herself up as a would-be apple of one’s eye with ease. It’s agreeable that this actress/model is an ample delight, the honesty of her acting markedly enjoyable.

Her other credits include appearances in “Queer as Folk”, “Earth Final Conflict” and “The Newsroom”. She’s also the leading lady in the ultra-violent “Dead Dreams” which has been labeled as gross because of its unnerving tooth extraction scenes. Heading into much more disturbing territory, JODIE’s journey as a murder victim sees her amnesiac husband trying to piece together the horrific event. There’s elements of Memento and Groundhog Day, as slowly but surely the pieces fall into place. Once more JODIE plays a pivotal role and she’s a big part of the thriller’s focus on its mysterious events. With her shining in both lighter and darker fare, JODIE’s days as a budding starlet is already in motion.
