Must Watch Hotties At The Toronto Film Fest 2011 Part 1

Antonia Campbell-Hughes in “The Other Side Of Sleep” and “Albert Nobbs”

 alt=

As one of her movies, the arthouse “Bright Star” implies, Antonia Campbell-Hughes is all of that, with an acting caliber that’s bound to enchant every time. Two of her films are gracing this year’s Toronto Film Fest; “The Other Side Of Sleep” sees her melancholic interpretation of a sleepwalker expected to receive rave reviews, having already made a sterling impression at Cannes. Antonia also returns to the period drama genre as a lovely young maid in “Albert Nobbs” opposite Glenn Close, unmistakably reveling in this must-see gender bending role. In fact, Glenn’s varied career choices is a point of admiration for Antonia who herself has amassed a diverse body of work. This Irish beauty is no stranger to horror (truthfully absorbing in “The Task”) nor comedy where she rose to fame in British series “Lead Balloon”. Utilizing her own personal experiences, this fashionably delicate actress has crafted richly layered characters we can’t help but pine for!

Greta Gerwig in “Damsels In Distress”

 alt=

She came out of nowhere to ascent the throne of indie queen-dom and former playwright turned in-demand actress Greta Gerwig has not looked back ever since. From partaking in sex scenes and nudity with Ben Stiller in “Greenburg” to sparkling in the micro-budget “Hannah Takes The Stairs”, Greta thrives on having an understated allure yet she has an unbridled radiance that’s impossible to ignore. If one has to make comparisons, she could just be the new Chloë Sevigny! You’ll be smitten with her in “Damsels In Distress” as Violet, the leader of a clique of college girls who decide to teach the new girl in school their socially acceptable ways….could just be this generation’s “Clueless” by the sound of it! Even at 26, she’s utterly believable as a demure teen. In Hollywood, there’s always room for another Greta to take our breath away! The very reality that Greta continues to grace films regardless of its scale speaks of her authenticity as an artist.

Mary Birdsong in “The Descendents”

 alt=

Saw a pic of Mary Birdsong in a frilly bikini and while she’s obviously a minx, Mary manages to inject humor when describing how revealing it was. She may be self-deprecating of her sexiness but we all know she’s a turn on and not just physically! If you’ve read the interviews she’s given, here is a lady with a magnetism of the cerebrally amusing kind. There’s one word that rings true when articulating how eclectic Mary Birdsong is and that’s FUN! It’s as if she’s blessed with that saucy irreverence and punchy humor that’s clearly relatable. Let’s admit Mary was a huge reason why “Reno 911″ became an addictive show thanks to her irrepressible comic timing as Deputy Cheresa Kimball, the alleged closet lesbian story arc being one of the highlights for fans. In the drama “The Descendents”, will she go all serious in those scenes with that handsome devil George Clooney?? It’s a no-brainer that Mary has got us hooked on that wacky yet endearing personality of hers.

Juno Temple in “Killer Joe”

 alt=

She’s been christened A Bright Young Thing, one in the next generation of British actresses destined for stardom and already Juno Temple has her indie cred status cemented. There seems to be a wave of starlets from the British Isles that grows unabated and Juno is bearing all the hallmarks of a top talent. Building a reputation for frank, sensitive portrayals of fragile women as recently seen in “Kaboom” and “Little Birds”. Venturing into the mainstream somewhat, she’s also been roped into Christopher Nolan’s newest Batman venture “The Dark Knight Rises” as Holly Robinson, who will eventually become Catwoman’s protege. Before that, she’s gets dragged into a dangerous liaison of the murderous kind in “Killer Joe” with Matthew McConaughey as the titular assassin who demands collateral in the shape of Juno’s teen character. She’s as potent onscreen as her wild, frizzy blonde hair that’s often been called flower-child enticing!

Beth Grant in “The Artist”

 alt=  alt=

It’s criminal that an actress such as the stature of Beth Grant was left out for the trailer of the movie “The Artist” (above). Granted it’s a supporting role for her but surely her accomplishments over the years warrant a tease of her character at the very least…come on now, The Coen Brothers did sign her up for “No Country For Old Men”…she is that amazing! There’s already people who have seen “The Artist” that are leaving plaudits on her Facebook Page as I am writing this which she totally deserves. One of the most under-rated character actresses, even when the material is not up to scratch, Beth finds a way to rise above and deliver fascinating albeit at times kooky performances. Some of the pivotal scenes in a cult classics such as “Donnie Darko” and the dramedy “Little Miss Sunshine” ensure she’s there to be memorable no matter how fleeting that may be. Away from the camera, Beth is immensely witty and funny, traits that continue to make her one to adore for the longest time.

Canadian Vixen: Katerina Taxia

 alt=  alt=

http://vimeo.com/17161571

Numerous glowing reviews of her stint on “Fringe” as FBI Agent Dawson and also as Captain Pike in a reenactment from Star Trek by “The Girls on Film” project points to the growing appeal of KATERINA TAXIA. Kudos to KATERINA and fellow actress Ashleigh Harrington for replacing the male testosterone with their much needed female poise as the young James T. Kirk and Pike in their tough tete-a-tete from the 2009 remake of Star Trek (taking over the parts of Chris Pine and Bruce Greenwood). These gender swapping productions are awesome and Trekkies as well as J J Abrams would surely approve! I love that they are calling this Killer Movie Recreations as the women on it have pure talent and we can’t wait for more exciting stuff from “The Girls on Film” project…of course, don’t forget to rope in the vivacious Miss KATERINA TAXIA! She’s a dynamic actress known for her ability to capture the facets of the characters she plays effortlessly. Certainly her role as Cleopatra on Discovery Channel’s “Cleopatra’s Palace and the Real Cleopatra” which brought her worldwide exposure showcased KATERINA’s enigmatic qualities befitting the regal authority of the Queen Of The Nile she played.

Drama is definitely her forte but KATERINA can also provide some of the more light-hearted moments. Watch her reel (above) and make sure to look out for the funny segment “Breastmilk, a Bad Dog Improv” when her character resorts to pumping breast milk into her cooking when her carton runs out…hehe. By the way when KATERINA dons them black glasses in some of the features she’s done, doesn’t this brunette cutie remind you of comedienne Tina Fey. Best of all, KATERINA is fully of friendly charm and being one of her fans, I was super glad we managed to re-connect on FACEBOOK. It’s still amazing to see her every now and again on TV alongside Anna Torv whenever there’s reruns of Fringe right here in Asia. There’s no better time than now to savor this excellent rising starlet from Canada.

Exclusive Interview With Sizzling Cutie Shanley Caswell

 alt=  alt=

SHANLEY CASWELL is the very fetching Star of groundbreaking “Detention” which transcends being just a smart teen horror film and stands on its own two feet as a genre-bending master class. If it created a huge buzz at SXSW this year as well as constantly receiving rave reviews on the internet, the intelligent slasher is expected to shine at the SIFF Film Festival 2011 as will it’s endearing female lead SHANLEY. I’m enraptured with her kindness for doing this interview at such short notice, a reflection of her appealing accessibility that’s truly charming. Already being praised as a female version of John Cusack and spoken highly of as the stirring centerpiece of “Detention”, admiration for her is rapidly growing.

In the throes of the psychedelic pace, pop culture references and riveting sci-fi cum slasher elements of “Detention”, SHANLEY is a standout as RILEY, the human touch amid the chaos. She captures the trepidation of youth, the foreboding of terror and the thrilling face offs with the movie’s villain impeccably. Even at 18, SHANLEY has shown she is adept at delivering a solidly authentic performance which could prove to be her launchpad as a Teen Idol.

Have a good read as SHANLEY lets us in on what’s it like being the female lead of a fascinating horror film, her grueling yet fun moments during the making of “Detention” and why she has the hots for Simon Baker after working with him on “The Mentalist”.

SHANLEY CASWELL TAKES A STAB AT THE QUESTIONS

1. Hi Shanley.You’re possibly the Final Girl in “Detention”. What’s it like being the leading lady of the slasher and playing a character that’s an outsider going through teen angst?

A: At first signing on to do Detention was exhilarating. The script was so interesting and like nothing I had ever heard about that I had to do it. Riley is a character that is a lot like any normal teenage girl: pop culture oriented, embarrassed, tormented, self centered, and opinionated.

I’ve been through all of these things growing up, like most teenagers, so it was easy to relate to her “my life is ruined” mentality. Now on the note of being the leading lady; that scared the crap out of me. Especially with working with Dane Cook, Josh Hutcherson, and Joseph Kahn all people whom I highly admire.

2. Inevitable comparisons are going to be drawn between “Detention” and the “Scream” Franchise. Can you tell us how different is your heroine Riley as opposed to Neve Campbell’s Sidney Prescott?

A: Detention has a different feel than Scream. It’s more fun and relatable to people my age in my generation. Scream was the old generations meta comedy-horror, Detention will appeal to teenagers now-a-days. That goes for Riley’s character too.

3. There’s a scene in “Detention”, reminiscent of “The Breakfast Club” (the film that made a tremendous impact) albeit more in line with the reality of youth today. As a teenager yourself, what do you think are the movie/movies that define your generation?

A: “Superbad”, “The Hangover” and “The Social Network” are three that come to my mind. “Superbad” and “The Hangover” are ones that we see everywhere today with quotes and clothing. “The Social Network” is one that will never be forgotten because of the event that it’s about. Facebook and social networking have defined our generation.

4. You do a lot of running trying your utmost to escape from the serial killer. How physically demanding were those scenes and what were your favorite moments from the film?

A: I actually trained before we started filming for the stunt work and the dance scenes. I had to fall a lot so I was taught how to fall properly without getting hurt. The hanging scene was the hardest because I was in a harness for about 6 to 8 hours and hanging for about 4 to 5.

I had bruises from the straps and had motion sickness by wrap time. My favorite scene to film was probably the skateboarding scene. They set up this cool contraption where the skateboard was connected to the camera so we could actually skate and and do the scene. Those were fun.

5. Just read that your first major role was on Hallmark in “Mending Fences” as a gothic teen with a sarcastic side, a complete opposite to your bubbly disposition. Why do you think actresses much prefer essaying the darker roles?

A: I think there’s a lot more complexity to playing darker roles. I’ve definitely played my fair share of bubbly roles though. I would do it more often but unfortunately some people don’t think that I have a very “bubbly” face all the time. And I……I’m also very sarcastic which turns some people off.

 alt=

6. There’s plenty of haters out there unlike me of course who shows the love for actresses on a daily basis…:):) How do you deal with the critics even at your tender age?

A: I’ve been very lucky so far to not have any critics. If I did I’m pretty good at taking things in thinking about them logically, then forgetting about them later.

7.From “Bones” and “The Mentalist to “The Middle”, you’ve been gracing quite a number of TV Shows. Who has been your favorite actor and why?

A: To work with? Simon Baker form The Mentalist. He is so cool and suave. He’s got a way of making everyone smile and feel special. Plus he’s got an Australian accent! How could I not be in love with him.

8. You once said the uncertainty of the acting industry gives you a thrill. What would be your dream role?

A: My dream role is always changing. At the moment I’d love to be some badass assassin or something. I’m really into stunt heavy movies right now. I feed off of adrenaline on set, the more adrenaline I have the more focused I am and the more work I get done.

9. In Tinseltown, teen actresses are regularly in demand more so this past year so what’s next for Shanley Caswell?

A: I have no idea what’s next. The thrill of this industry is why I love it. I’m not working on anything right now but next month I could be in France filming a miniseries. You have to learn to go with the flow. Right now I’m focusing on school and studying Kinesiology.

10. Tell us the one thing that nobody will ever guess about you.

A: I love rock climbing and bungee jumping.

Thanks again for the support and the awesome questions!

Hot Actress #491 – Leslie Murphy: Indie Princess

 alt=  alt=

“White Irish Drinkers” may be the first feature film for rising starlet LESLIE MURPHY yet her moving portrayal of Shauna Friel, the Brooklyn girl aiming for the high life has gotten rave reviews. The compelling drama set in 1975 has its Irish-Americans with signature sideburns resorting to crime, a general bleakness of the human condition and the ugliness of domestic violence. The solid cast including veterans Peter Lang and Karen Allen as well as fresh faces Nick Thurston and of course LESLIE keeping us engrossed every step of the way. The romantic subplot seems headed for calamity despite the obvious sexual chemistry between lovebirds LESLIE’s Shauna and Nick Thurston’s Brian Leary. By the way, there’s a sizzling sex scene in a cemetery that’s gonna be the talk of town! I was astounded to read that Director John Gray had to move the cemetery shoot as caretakers at the previous location frown upon nudity…LOL! Leslie has so kindly drawn attention to the movie’s run at Laemmle Sunset 5 West Hollywood…can’t wait for its premiere in ASIA! This fair-skinned beauty has an interesting loveliness; Leslie kind of reminds me of a cross between the soulful verve of Anna Torv (Fringe) and the enigmatic desirability of Maggie Gyllenhall. LESLIE herself is a stage actress (just like Maggie) who once played the title role in Sarah Ruhl’s Eurydice for New York Stage and Film.

It’s all about connecting with audiences and I realized that indie actresses bring out the fears, hopes and needs of everyday people so well, leaving a poignant reminder that life can be a complicated mess. My passion for them is overflowing as the characters they portray are steeped in reality, almost mirror images of ourselves no matter the cultural context. Even though I’ve only seen LESLIE in the trailer of “White Irish Drinkers”, she’s so charismatic and I’m positive that she’ll remain an enthralling factor for years to come…:)

Hot Actress #488 – Kristen Nedopak: Ravishing Redhead

 alt=  alt=

She’s been called one of the most unique faces in the industry as well as the hostess with the mostest and KRISTEN NEDOPAK is so deserving of every single adulation heaped on her. She’s a one woman geek encyclopedia, putting her own endearing, all meat no filler spin on the best in fantasy and sci-fi. This bewitching digital vixen of sites such as THINK HERO and SCIENCE FICTION ensures we don’t miss our dose of juicy entertainment news with a slant on all things GEEK! She will be giving us the blow-by-blow episodic reviews of much lauded new series “Game Of Thrones” having previously wax lyrical about the insanely popular “The Vampire Diaries”. If not for Kristen, i wouldn’t have known she held such fascination for Ian Somerhalder who plays the dangerously suave vamp Damon. Come to think of it, if she was cast in the show as the object of immortal desire (say Nina Dobrev opts out next season..hehe), she’d probably ditch the brooding Stefan and lust after Mr Somerhalder (Damon)….in fact Ian did let slip recently that Elena and Damon should do the dirty eventually…:) Ok, aside from vampire shenanigans, I’m sure by now everyone is craving a piece of KRISTEN so have your fill at the KRISTEN NEDOPAK OFFICIAL SITE.

Besides her Geek Goddess status, she’s also active on the indie film scene as well as a producer of her very own comedic short films. Her OUTTA THIS WORLD: THE ART OF FANTASY & SCI-FI WITH KRISTEN NEDOPAK VLog is a sensation; How i admire that she delivers the 411 on a rich cornucopia of conventions, books, visual arts and the world of Film/TV…..Best to check her out as a stunning Geisha in her self-made costume and of course she cuts a delicious figure as a Pin-Up (see pic above)…KRISTEN is definitely a DOER and a creative force! Add her charming persona and you have an all-round entertainer blazing a trail on multiple platforms as an intelligently sweet ingénue.

10 QUESTIONS WITH HORROR GOSSIP QUEEN REBEKAH HERZBERG

1. What does it take to be a horror columnist and why are we fascinated with all things terrifying?

A: People are fascinated by the unknown. Some people are in it for the adrenaline rush. The screams from the audience and the suspense are an experience that some individuals crave. For others, it’s all about entertainment and escapism. If you go to the cinemas, you’ll realize that people aren’t always screaming in fear. Some are actually laughing at something they see onscreen. This is another reason why people like horror movies. There are several types of emotions being expressed. As such it provides a form of entertainment that isn’t that different from other films.

I cannot really say what it takes to become a columnist in the industry. Any one who can complete sentences mixed with fancy words and knows everything there is to know about horror films can do this job. I don’t just write about horror films. I learn. I explore. I educate myself. Since I was a little girl my biggest goal has been to see every horror film ever made. Preferably the rare gems no one ever talks about. Those are the ones I like to watch any way. I’ve never been a big fan of the more mainstream horror films.

2. What have been your good and bad experiences throughout your career?

A: So many good experiences come with the territory. You meet amazing people. Not just the people behind the films but the fans. Other fans out there are very interesting to talk to. Bad experiences, always tape record your interviews. Catch someone when they have been drinking when all you have is a pen and paper and a couple of witnesses…they will still threaten to sue you if you print everything they say. Even if they know better. I try not to interview anyone when they’re intoxicated anymore because the last thing I want to do is offend someone in the genre. Or even get them into trouble. After all, I am a big fan…not just a journalist.

3. I love that you focus on some of the more obscure genre films, cult classics and even comics i.e. Vampirella. How do you go about picking your features for Scream TV?

A: I just pick whatever is HOT that week. The comic books mainly I get tips in from friends in that industry. I am a HUGE comic book collector so this is something I always like to feature in my columns. I want to be different then the rest of the columnists out there. Provide more information to the genre instead of repeating the same old boring news that everyone already sees on all the main websites. I ask myself, how can I stand out this week and draw more readers in? I work real hard on it…and it works.

4. Can you tell us if you idolize any of the Scream Queens and which actresses do you count as friends?

A: I don’t know about idolizing any of them but I would have to say I have always looked up to Jamie Lee Curtis. No one can scream like her. Typical answer? Probably, but everyone knows it’s true. I do have a lot of friends out there that enjoy acting in horror films but the majority of them are trying to break away from the title ‘Scream Queen.’ There are also too many women out there that give their selves that title when it isn’t exactly correct. Roxy Vandiver will always be in my favor and in my opinion the hottest.

5. I’ve read some of your posts on Facebook and come to the realization that you might actually have an angry streak.What is behind all the rage and is it a good thing?

A: (Laughs) Generally, I am a calm and mellow person who just likes to laugh. This is a problem I have, FACE BOOK! Sometimes I think of deleting it. It’s hard for me not to get on it when I have been drinking and say things I probably shouldn’t say. That’s how I deal with my problems. I talk about them. People come to me all the time saying, “Maybe you shouldn’t post this or talk about your personal life on here?” That’s where they’re wrong.

Everyone is so hypocritical. Everyone does the same exact thing! I just do it more often and don’t actually care what people think, unlike them. It has probably given me a bad Reputation but like Joan Jett I would have to say I too…do not give a damn. In a way everything that goes on in my personal life (as hard as it may be) is a good thing. It builds character. I’ve been writing a book on my life since I was 18. If I thought I had a lot to talk about then…boy was I wrong. Maybe some day I will finish the book. Just needs an ending…

 alt=

6. Which do you find the most enriching? Being the go to girl for the latest in the horror biz, posing seductively for the camera as a model or embodying a kick ass character onscreen?

A: I just like to write. On the side I do modeling, acting, singing, ballet, etc.. Those are all just hobbies and nothing I plan on making a career out of. If someone comes to me with what sounds lie a fantastic shoot, of corpse I will say yes. I may always say yes. But like I said, writing is my main passion and what I always want to do with my life.

7. As a performer, what’s your take on gratuitous nudity and violence in film? Have we finally moved away from exploitation and given women a much bigger say in every aspect of film-making?

A: There are a lot of women in the industry out there making a lot of plans. They even have a ‘Women of Horror Month’ now. We discussed this on the show one night. I believe it’s every February? I do not believe exploitation is over and I hope it never is. I will never get enough of gratuitous nudity and violence! If it were up to me I could walk around everyday naked doing whatever I want but NOOOOO I have to keep it in my private home or on set. There is a lot going on overseas in the industry. Italy especially.

There are directors there trying to bring back those exploitation films and recreate them in their own way. Not even just the Italians. The Asians in the business are sick twisted individuals. I hope they never stop. Although, I cannot say too much about Ringu, Ju-On, and any film having to do with a girl with long hair and a scary face…hopefully that whole boring phase is OVER. This of corpse, is just my opinion. LONG LIVE EXPLOITATION CINEMA!

8. What do you think is sorely lacking in modern day horror and what would you like to see more of?

A: Originality. I cannot stress that enough. Not everything has been done! Americans keep remaking films and even stealing ideas from foreign film-makers. I have seen a good handful of more original horror films that came out in the past couple of years but none of them get enough notoriety! Frozen, Sweatshop, The Loved ones, Martyrs, etc… This is why someone may say something like, “Oh I don’t watch horror films because they’re stupid.” That’s because they’re not looking in the right place. Just like music. You have to explore! That’s what I do. No one pays enough attention to the ‘art’ of a horror film.

You’re getting chased by a chainsaw wielding maniac – what do you do? Run up the stairs, yes you’re going to finish top of your class. You hearing screams come from a creepy haunted house on the end of town – what do you do? Go and investigate; well, we’re never seeing you again. Your car breaks down outside the scariest looking house ever, You go up to the door and an even creepier guy answers the door covered head to toe in blood – what do you do? Still go into the house, asking to us the telephone, yes and then the telephone will then proceed to be used to bash your skull in. SHOW ME SOMETHING BELIEVABLE!

9. Name the one movie that send chills down your spine leaving a most indelible impression and why.

A: It’s hard to pick just one. I will give you my top five:

1. Carrie (The scene leading up to the blood being poured alllllll over her.) The music and the acting, everything combined…this scene always gave me chills along with that scary ending! Great film.

2. The Exorcist (The scene where she spins her head around and says “Do you know what she did? Your cunting daughter..”) Typical answer I know but for some reason that scene always gets me. It’s the voice and well everything along with it.

3. Black Christmas (The obscene phone calls.) This to me is one of the scariest aside from when she finds out the calls are coming from the house. She finds that the killer has been listening to all her personal information about her abortion and in the creepiest voice says, “Just like having a wart removed.” GUH!

4. Don’t Look Now (Scary as fuck midget with an axe) OH MY GAWD!

5. IT (Pretty much any scene with that clown) That’s right, I am also scared of clowns but mainly just Tim Curry as a clown. Took me ten years to be able to watch it again.

10. Tell us something about Rebekah Herzberg that nobody knows about.

A: I will watch any 80s comedy over any horror film in the world. 80s comedy rules!

Hot Actress #424 – Kathrin Smirke: Rising Starlet

 alt=  alt=

Sometimes an entertainer doesn’t need the traditional platform to announce herself as the frontier of cyberspace is often where the seeds of popularity are sown for some. Ravishing redhead Kathrin Smirke is the Creator, Writer, Producer and Actress of the popular ‘OUT TO LUNCH’ web series and she’s getting plenty of love from the digital audience. Three episodes in and she’s already getting rave reviews for both her off-kilter performances as the eccentric Matilda and the slow-burning off-the-wall humor; it’s like every little thing she does is MAGIC! She’s roped in her fellow thesps, luminously elegant beauties JULIE MINTZ and DANIELLE HOETMER and together they’ve created 3 lovably distinct personalities who get caught up in sticky situations.

This statuesque cutie is 5′ 11″ of grace and polished natural talent. I’m indebted to KATHRIN for taking the time to do an exclusive interview (have a read below). Youtube would be a tad boring without the Women Of The Web like KATHRIN SMIRKE who are giving us slices of digital heaven.

————————————————————————————————————————————————————-
10 QUESTIONS WITH ACTRESS KATHRIN SMIRKE

 alt=

1. What were your inspirations for developing the popular web series “Out To Lunch”?

A: I was mainly inspired by one of my biggest idols, Seinfeld co-creator and writer, Larry David (call me if you read this Larry). I am also a huge “Curb your Enthusiasm” fan and wanted to create a show that has a similar situational humor to it, but revolves around women. I would describe my show as “Curb your Enthusiasm” meets “Sex and the City”.

Another inspiration for creating “Out to Lunch” was simple restlessness. I was growing tired of waiting for my agent to call with auditions and decided to take my career into my own hands.

2. You play a rather neurotic woman brilliantly in “Out To Lunch”. Why do you think this character has resonated so well with the web audience?

A: I believe that my female viewers identify with the character Matilda, because everyone has neurotic tendencies whether they want to admit it or not. It’s the same reason audiences are drawn towards characters like Gregory House from “House, M.D.”, Miles Crane from “Frazier”, and Adrian Monk from “Monk”.

3. I’m an actress lover so i adore how you gals keep entertaining us fans. Can you tell us some of the experiences you had working with your fellow performers Julie Mintz and Danielle Hoetmer?

A: I love working with Julie Mintz and Danielle Hoetmer. Both of them are very talented actresses and I am very happy that they are a part of my show. When I auditioned for Jessica’s part (played by Julie Mintz), I instantly felt Julie’s connection with the character. Interestingly enough, Danielle Hoetmer auditioned for the same part. Although I did not cast her for the role of Jessica, I knew that I had to write her into the show. That is how Laura “The Lurch” was born.

4. With the current digital onslaught of youtube and facebook, how has the landscape change for actresses like you? Does it mean you constantly have to evolve to stay relevant?

A: Website like YouTube, Funny or Die, and Atom.com are a great way for actors to be more creative and proactive about their careers. Nowadays, it’s not enough to just be an actor. You have to create, write, and produce if you want to stand out in this business. The great thing about the digital video revolution is that it allows up and coming producers to gain an audience whereas in the past, it would have been impossible. A great example would be the Atom.com comedy tournament. We recently placed first with over 8000 views.

5. There’s been a rise in raunchiness on television,film and on the web recently. In your opinion, can you tell us what defines sexiness?

A: Ahhhh…sexiness? It’s definitely all about lots of skin. The more tits and ass the longer you last. Haha. No, but seriously, I think intelligence, confidence, and a great sense of humor are sexy.

6. Do you think actresses are getting enough recognition for their work and the original ideas they conceived?

A: I’d like to say no, because nobody is knocking on my door…yet. Actually, I think women in the entertainment industry have made great leaps and bounds, but I’d like to see more scripted television geared towards women instead of reality based TV.

7. Tell us something about Kathrin Smirke that most people would probably not know about.

A: I love poetry and I am actually in the process of writing a poetry book.

8. James Dean is one of my idols and I heard you’re going to be in a feature about him called “Joshua Tree, 1951: A Portrait of James Dean”…can you give us a little tease about the film?

A: It is the most unflinching and honest exploration yet of James Dean’s life and sexuality prior to his becoming a star and ill-fated legend. You can also check out the official trailer of JOSHUA TREE 1951.

9. You’ve already been labeled as a queen of web television, so what’s next for the rising starlet that is Kathrin Smirke?

A: Thank you so much for the compliment! I am currently working on the fourth episode of “Out to Lunch” and in the near future, I hope to pitch the idea to different television networks. I am also working on creating three reality based shows for television.

10. What were your most memorable moments in 2010 and your best role to date?

A: As an actor, my most memorable moments are creating, acting in and producing my web series, “Out to Lunch”. I also had the opportunity to work on an episode for the “House, M.D.” spin-off, “Nurse Jeffrey”.

I have to say from her modeling pics, she’s a perfect example of an individual beauty and I’m sure people are going to say REBEKAH is both angelic and devilishly delicious especially in her implied nudes…..hehe. I totally respect that she’s comfortable with her body and I expressed my gratitude to her for reviving fond memories of my favorite horror comic book series “VAMPIRELLA”, something i cherish whilst growing up. REBEKAH reviews everything from comics to Asian horror with Golden Era horror flicks in between…WOW! I find myself pretty addicted to her writing so kudos to this one woman tittle-tattler of all things terror.
