Denise Gossett is the founder and creative force of Shriekfest 2012, an event that’s become synonymous with recognizing the best in horror/sci-fi as well as everything in between. She’s given LA and the world at-large a platform to give plaudits to some of the best features in the horror genre and an avenue to marvel at the endeavors of talented performers. Denise has cemented my love for blondes especially when she’s full of charm and one of the smartest women on the planet. She started Shriekfest back in 2001 and we have her to thank for 12 years of must watch entertainment from the dark side and beyond.

2 Big Reasons to watch “The Employer”! Foxy rising starlet Katerina Mikailenko and the legendary Malcolm McDowell…:) What a way to kick things off on the opening night of Shriekfest 2012 with the premiere of this edge of your seat thriller. 5 executives jostled for a job that may be the death of them. Katerina takes on the role of a tough chick thrown into a room with 4 other people hoping to score a most coveted vocation. Now who wouldn’t want to be trapped with the vivacious and sexy Katerina. Can she survive the clutches of one very cunning “The Employer”(Malcolm McDowell) and be the Final Girl?

With the horror short Blue Hole having been accepted into 17 film festivals this year including Shriekfest, it means we get to be captivated by the ebullient Aubrey Mozino 17 times or I dare say more! Not that we’re complaining since she appears in the Jaws-like teaser of “Blue Hole” in suspenseful fashion, eventually getting dragged way by something or someone! You may have watched her on Youtube in the episode Live In 5-Nip Slip from her LIVE IN 5 web series which has close to 270,000 Views! Aubrey is certainly attracting the right sort of attention and awakening a steadily growing fascination among viewers.

Carolyn Jania in “The Sleepover”

One can easily be entranced by the sweet smile of Carolyn Jania and this cutie could very well be dazzling festivals throughout the year. She’s appearing in the comedy horror short “The Sleepover” that tells of a town with what could be a life-changing secret. Carolyn’s part is a mystery but her vividly diverse looks (as can be seen in her reel) will be a big draw for even those who are just starting to admire this talented newcomer. According to numerous reviews, Carolyn is highly thought of as a controlled performer, constantly mesmerizing when depicting emotive aspects onscreen even at this early stage her career. Kudos!

Lauren Lakis in “House With 100 Eyes”

Intensely beautiful is what indie darling Lauren Lakis is all about and the diversity in her work is a shining example of the “soul” she often imbues in the characters from various features she’s done. Having dazzled recently in the creepy “Lovely Molly”, she appears in yet another gritty flick of snuff films and a twisted couple who conduct and records the gruesome killings. I’m talking about “House With 100 Eyes” another shocking entry in the torture porn genre. Her upcoming films such as the Lloyd Kaufman starrer “Horror House” and the very grim “American Girls” are going to be just as intriguing. To sum it up, Lauren is a beguiling prospect…:)

Blonde Bombshell: Kristina Page

With her vibrant sexiness evocative of a mix between Heather Graham’s Roller Girl from “Boogie Nights” and a delectable cheerleader, KRISTINA PAGE is all dynamic perkiness. It’s fitting that she plays a high school cheerleader just out of rehab in the upcoming “Aqua Caliente“. As Piper Prego (a nod to Covert Affairs star Piper Perabo perhaps…hehe), there’s plenty of sweetness underneath but watch out for her demanding streak that tends to arise thanks to her Mafia lineage. This hysterical comedy has loads of colorful characters including an A-List star of “Big Tittie Nights” and Piper’s feisty granny played by my good friends Jessica Sonneborn and Noel Thurman respectively. That’s 3 Heavenly Blondes in 1 raucous movie; Guess it’s no surprise to say I’m itching to see the trailer especially after browsing those stills of nubile ladies in their bikinis…:) Besides having all the right curves as a picture of youthful lusciousness, I’m discovering that KRISTINA’s bubbly, accommodating nature is just as precious.

Horror is about to make its presence felt in the days ahead and chancing upon KRISTINA in the teaser (above) of the sci-fi thriller “Never Open The Door”, she looks to be on the cusp of some Scream Queen action. The suspenseful tone does give me the heebie jeebies and the unsettling way KRISTINA gets face licked by Jessica Sonneborn (in her creepiest mode) is instantly startling! The two have actually been in 3 movies together including the entertaining “A LURE: Teen Fight Club”. Watch out for the naughty side of hers in the indie flick “Crack Whore”, dishing out pleasure as the Dominatrix Mistress Ashley. Demonstrating her wonderful versatility onscreen, KRISTINA is more than capable of enchanting with every subsequent role. Some juicy news just in! KRISTINA is currently on set in Connecticut shooting Leigh Scott’s next film with Devanny Pinn, Sid Haig, Jeffrey Combs and Eliza Swenson. You guessed it, she’s a cheerleader once more only this time it’s a flashback to the ’70s!

Indie Queen: Paige Kimball

Essaying quirky characters is part and parcel of being an indie actress and PAIGE KIMBALL has taken on some amusing ones using a procession of expressions to whip up laughter. Check out her in “OMG! I’m Knocked Up!” as Jackie, the woman oblivious to the glaring fact that she’s preggers! Hilarity ensures as she chalks it down to a bloated stomach and having the need for liposuction. Transitioning into a much darker tone is her appearance in the menacingly freaky short “Curtain” that has a man being threatened by both a psychotic girlfriend and a Succubus that seemingly makes its home in his bathtub. PAIGE plays Victoria, the landlady in the apartment where he lives and is privy to its horrifying secret. Since this is a horror comedy, I’m presuming PAIGE will be conveying some of the more lighthearted moments. Keep your eyes peeled genre for genre fav Maria Olsen in the role of the Succubus as well as the astoundingly scary FX/Makeup!

It’s been a long time since I’ve been this creeped out and the trailer (above) does bring chills down my spine especially in the dead of night! Get a glimpse of the talents of Miss PAIGE KIMBALL as “Curtain” is screening on 24th September at Fantastic Fest 2011. Be sure to take a look at the PAIGE KIMBALL OFFICIAL SITE for more updates. She’s also in the World War 2 spoof BAND OF MOTHERS where even soldiers are mollycoddled faster than you can say Mama’s Boy! If you’re a fan Joan Allen (where has she been?), it’s very likely you’ll adore PAIGE too for she has a similarly approachable incandescence about her.

Sizzling Ladies At Fantastic Fest 2011


Julie R. Ølgaard & Synnøve Macody Lund in “Headhunters”

Julie R. Ølgaard is an award-winning actress who is also one of the most charismatic actresses that have ever graced the Danish Film scene. Formerly a student at The Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute in LA, she returned to her native Denmark and swiftly began dazzling the industry over there. Famed for being the missing woman (the US remake calls her Rosie Larsen) so central in the hit Danish series “The Killing”, Julie has heaps of magnetism that it wouldn’t be inconceivable for anyone to want to rescue her. She’s appearing in the fast-paced heist thriller “Headhunters” screening at Fantastic Fest that promises to be hugely exciting. Fellow Blonde Synnøve Macody Lund is the film’s obvious leading lady who is nude in a number of scenes on her debut. What better than to be mesmerized by this pair of Danish Vixens.

Ashley Bell in “The Day”

She announced her arrival as an intense actress with an emotional tidal wave of a performance in “The Last Exorcism”. As Nell Sweetzer, Ashley Bell’s version of the Linda Blair-like demonic possession dispenses with the pea vomit, opting for a scarred psyche and some astounding back contortions which she gamely performed herself without any CGI! She’s making a habit of being a survivor onscreen be it from The Devil or the horrors of an apocalypse such as in “The Day”. It’s “Mad Max” meets “The Road” as Ashley wields her 9mm Berretta and shotgun in the face of impeding death. The psychedelic rock from “Explosions In The Sky” in the teaser (above) already foretells of the disquiet tension before the storm for this must-see film. Yet another demanding role in which Ashley will evidently ace!

Emma Lock In “The Human Centipede:Full Sequence”

About to play a major part in “The Human Centipede 2: Full Sequence”, Emma Lock is destined to achieve cult status by the time this even more controversial sequel ends its run. She’s in the largely British cast who have been tasked to deliver on the ’100% medically inaccurate’ shocks that shook up the genre last year and spawned such a cultural phenomenon (South Park’s Centipad comes to mind)! Emma is a multilingual model/actress of Spanish/Chinese descent with eternally enchanting features. Hailing from West London, she has performed in indie films, theatre productions and has even done voice over work for BBC radio. Have a peek at the teaser trailer of her new thriller Drive-By-Sunset”. Emma is sweetly captivating as there’s a whole lot of sensual intrigue behind her doe-eyes and lively innocence..

Katy Mixon in “Take Shelter”

Jessica Chastain is proabably getting the plaudits as she has done all year but don’t forget there’s another talented lady in the existential drama “Take Shelter”. Just like the hallucinatory themes of the film, we’ll be fantasizing about Katy Mixon even if she’s more of a supporting act this time around. The helium-voiced, busty beauty has been heating up TV land for years in popular series “Eastbound and Down” as well as “Mike and Molly” utilizing that kooky sex appeal of hers. Audiences are calling her eminently watchable on “Mike and Molly” and at the very least should have been nominated as Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy (leading lady Melissa McCarthy did triumphed as Best Actress). While we may certainly lust after this sassy Sex Symbol, its those helpings of Southern Belle geniality that keeps us coming back for more.

Sharni Vinson in “You’re Next”

There’s really heaps of thunder from Down Under when referring to the impact of Australian Actresses and their invasion of the US Film market. Expect Sharni Vinson to provide some of it as this cutie stars in “You’re Next”, the all-the-rage horror entry at this year’s Fantastic Fest. Touted as the new “Scream”, the smart home invasion flick could transform Sharni into a household name not unlike how Neve Campbell is often put on the pedestal for being a Terror Hottie. And because she posed for Maxim Australia, I’ll let it slide that “You’re Next” doesn’t have a trailer out yet. Plus it’s now under the Lionsgate label and we all know how fantastic their stable of films have been. Ogle at her behind the scenes Maxim shoot (above)…her sexy accent, carefree hair and supple bod (which we saw plenty in Step Up 3D) is quite the arousing factor!

Sex Bomb: Casey Durkin

Quiver in excitement as you behold Actress/Model/Designer CASEY DURKIN who also happens to be a former Miss Los Angeles. Most of us can’t wait to catch her in the parkour actioner “Freerunner” where she’s wonderfully perky in the trailer (above). Exposing her boobs to the contestants involved in a life and death race and cajoling them to enjoy the priceless view (which could be their last) is ironic peep show banter at its best. While the ladies fixate on the athleticism of Sean Faris, we’ll take in the sunny glamor of the attractive CASEY DURKIN for the whole duration of the movie. I read that she’s regarded as a hottie who makes each day progressively better and one possessing the gift to make people smile…her perfectly sexy butt (which she readily admits is her best feature) has my pulses racing and grinning…:)

It’s fantastic when actresses give us fans the heads up on their latest projects and perennial cutie MIRIAM KORN sure has plenty to reveal! She recently shot the new webseries “The Vampire Secrets” and as you can guess, it’s a soap opera spoof on the sensation that is “The Vampire Diaries”. You may have already watched “The Vampire Diaries” parody on Youtube that incorporated Lady Gaga’s song “Teeth” but now munch on a weekly dose of vampiric mystery when “The Vampire Secrets” starts. Miriam is slated to play the love interest of one of the leads and I did ask her if she was the good or bad girl. Her response was that in dramas she’s usually the vulnerable “good girl” with a deep dark secret and in comedies she’s likely to be the smart, sarcastic girl. It’ll be interesting to know how her character will evolve and the trailer (above) already raises much intrigue! As she once remarked to horror fans everywhere, she could just be under our beds waiting to give us a good scare…that dark humor of hers is so lovable! She herself once went through a rather more grim stage of life and from that experience was born the unnerving short film “What They Say”, a disturbing portrayal of a woman with an uncontrollable need for cutting. Set to premiere at The Chicago Horror Film Festival this September where HEATHER is the esteemed host, the teaser (above) has been called wild and shocking, a foreboding of the psychological terror to come. HEATHER will no doubt impress as Gwen, the complexed, damaged persona who revels in some skin-crawling razor blade mutilation that would make us cringe. It’s also great to see her alongside fellow Scream Queen Kitsie Duncan in “What They Say” as well as the soon to be released “Mother’s Blood”. This thriller of twisted proportions sees HEATHER as Emma, the repressed daughter of control freak Vivian (Kitsie) who traded her daughter’s beauty in order to regain her own after a horrific accident. She’s investing her heart and soul into these features and not just as an actress as she’s heavily involved in the writing/producing side of things as well.

With all the dire material HEATHER has to work with in a majority of her films, off camera she always has a warm smile and ever so welcoming of all her fans. I myself am reciprocating the love by heaping praise on this emerging prospect on the independent scene. This lovely gal doesn’t shy away from unsettling subject matter onscreen and is showing the world what she can do when tackling such chilling scenes. RENÉ ASHTON is a lady with one of the best smiles in the industry and you’ll probably fall in lust with her when you catch her in “Milf Money” premiering at ITVFest on August 5th 2011. She joins a sensual cast comprising Missi Pyle, Deena Dill as well as foxy sweethearts Dru Mouser and Angela Landis both of whom I now call friends in addition to being their fan. They play single ladies resorting to the world’s oldest profession, i.e. prostitution to get themselves out of the quagmire of hapless circumstance. Haven’t you notice that there’s been a rash of handjob scenes over the past week on TV as well as on the web. On Mary-Louise Parker’s opus “Weeds” just last week, we saw two female masseurs giving hand relief to a duo of guys under their towels in a rather racy scene. On the other hand (no pun intended), as the desperate Meg, her version of a tug job in “Milf Money” involves a more endearing degree of humor (as shown in the trailer above). René is a natural comedienne and has written a not-to-be missed indie comedy that hits the funny mark and already on the radar of various film festivals. She did prove to be the heart of hilarity in “Be My Baby” which also stars perennial cutie Lacey Charbet. As a scorned woman out for revenge on unsuspecting married men, she devises an ingenious con and gets rewarded handsomely for it…that it until she falls in love and things go awry in a hurry!

On the television front, René has regularly appeared in a number of hit shows such as “Big Love”, “Dexter” as well as “Rules Of Engagement” and right up to a recent stint on Season 3 of “Castle”. One can sense how vivacious of a person René is and at the rate she’s going, her bubbly demeanor is bound for constant adoration by the viewing public. Here’s one very attractive talent who has earned the tag of one of entertainment’s likable actress.
