Rising Starlet: Christina Toth

Acknowledged as an exciting young actress, Christina Toth could soon be the upcoming talent with an eye-catching visage. After all, she is quite the cutie with luminous features that would be adore by many. This year’s Big Apple Film Festival sure has a bevy of fascinating women with Christina being one of the sparks since she’s the star of the film Jane St. which is screening on Nov 9. It’s a role that sees her vulnerable side laid bare for all to see, playing Alice whose intense relationship may yet be her undoing. Jane St has a great trailer (above) with its choice of song “Special Needs” by Placebo a reminder of the angst and LGBT themes of the drama. Christina does infuse the realism we’ve come to know that makes the indie genre such a compelling watch.

Here’s Christina revealing more about what’s in store from her:

My latest projects (other than Jane St, the short and collaborating in the feature’s pre-production): Co-Star role on Season 5 of Boardwalk Empire A Crime To Remember Season 2 (which is set to air before Christmas): I got to play a young French nun – setting was based in the 1950’s. It was a terrific experience. And being from Montreal, my fluent french speaking was of great use! Up-comings are: Cleopatra (by Layon Gray) – this is going to be an unbelievable experience. Layon has written a modern times version of the story of Cleopatra. (format is webseries). It’ll be raw, edgy, sexy – I play Cleopatra’s right hand (my role is very much alike “IAGO”, from Othello by Shakespeare) I’m in pre-production for my own feature film entitled “Point Cinq” which I wrote with Valery Lessard, another fabulous Montreal actress. The film will be shot in Montreal (we are aiming to start shooting in 2015). I’m very excited about this project. I will act in it. It’s also very fulfilling to participate in the making of a feature from inception to completion – it’s grand to take charge and give yourself executive decision making power. I have a lot to learn, but I’ve been extremely fortunate to work hand in hand with Valery and my mentor: Rita Lafontaine, one of our finest actresses in Montreal. So our foundation is extremely solid!

Having recently received the award for Best Actress in a Leading Role at NYC’s 48 hr Film Festival and guest-starring in a hit series such as “Boardwalk Empire” can only propel her to greater heights. Christina is a future star in the making and that is something this blog has always celebrated.
