As the revelry of Cannes begins to kick into gear, the women of the screen such as the ravishing Grace Santos get us all excited. Graceful and gorgeous, she’s an indie darling who is set to make waves. Post apocalyptic features are all the rage with “Max Mad: Fury Road” and “Maggie”, the zombie version of a desolate world sparking up attention. In the same vein, her short film “Odessa” has the US descend into a chaotic nightmare in the wake of a global economic collapse. Grace captures all the nuances of the fiercely determined young mother Estrella who is trying her best to survive in a harsh new order. “Odessa” is screening at the Short Film Corner at this year’s Cannes Film Festival and with Grace in attendance, veneration for her is moments away. She’s a believer in character driven work and the thought-provoking “Odessa” has given her the ideal platform to captivate.
Grace has also so kindly gave us a tease of her current projects:
My main focus right now is getting two series off the ground. I started in the biz as only an actress but then realized I really need to take control of my acting career since there are less roles for women. So I went to law school and film school to understand how to produce my own work. So I’m currently working on taking the short film “Odessa” and turning it into a series. That is a post apocalyptic drama. Also making and acting in “Bree DOES Comedy” which is a comedy webseries.
“Bree DOES Comedy” is quite a saucy one which centers on acclaimed porn star Bree Olsen quitting the hardcore biz for a career in comedy. Grace plays her best friend and a bona fide obsessive Bree supporter. Their chemistry is one to savor and both are a riot! Grace is a mix of many nationalities (Filipino, Portuguese, as well as Spanish), an inkling of her background that is as diverse as her on-camera endeavors. She’s a woman of many facets and an intriguing prospect to keep note of…:)
