Must Watch Screen Sirens @ California Women’s Film Festival 2018 – Part 2
Joanna Ke and America Young
– Complex fantasy features with strong female characters are creating buzz and thanks to Joanna Ke and America Young, we get a taste of Junaaya, a warrior princess dragged into a duel with her eternal enemy.
– Directed by America and written and produced by its star Joanna Ke, “Protectress” delves into the origins of a heroine in the making, the pivotal moment that comes into effect that one can indeed save the world.
– With “Protectress” joining the likes of the recently released female-fronted actioner “The Outpost”, expect the prodigious talents of Joanna and America to stir the hearts of fans all over the world.
Annie Quinn
– Known for her work alongside acclaimed Australian comedian Jim Jeffries on the series “Legit” where she was charmingly likeable in her scenes, Annie Quinn channels her congeniality in the hilarious “Lisa At Large”.
– She stars as Christy, the co-worker of the hapless Lisa (Mariam Saraj) who just joined the third rate gossip network, Inforoot and is ever the calming influence in the face of Lisa’s overbearing antics at her workplace.
– Having appeared on “Glee” alongside Jayma Mays and in the short film “Gypsies, Tramps & Thieves” with Amanda Seyfried (from “Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again”), we would love to see shimmer on the big screen again.
Tara Perry
– Ubiquitous on a multitude of mediums like the web, film and television most notably as Marina on “The Fresh Beat Band”, Tara Perry has the unmistakably lovable appeal that speaks to a varied generation of viewers.
– While there’s no trailer yet for her short film “How We Live”, we can already surmise that this ebullient redhead will win us over especially in view of her resolute performance in “Ghosts Of The Ozarks”.
– To be released in 2019, Tara is the star and producer of the new feature film Squirrel which is a heady mix of comedy and thriller as a couple stumbles on a desperate cult leader weighing up life and death decisions.
