Over 2 seasons, Lidia Porto has been the powerhouse onscreen as Amara, the colorful Godmother of Crime in Nevada on “Get Shorty”. She returns on Season 3 this week and as she has done on the eclectic show is as splashy as she is vicious. There’s even time for the young at heart Amara to get some vigorous bedroom action and a vibrant wedding, hitched to Ray Romano’s washed-up producer Rick no less.
The fate that’s in store for Amara is a revelation of sorts, mirroring the brutality of her reign as a cartel leader. Lidia is vividly interesting in her portrayal of Amara, enhancing her with layers of complexity making us question if she is the true villainess of this saga. Her dolled-up criminal mastermind is certainly a cut above, multifarious and brazenly complex. One could say Lidia has perfected the art of multi dimensionality when in character and portends to her stature as a sublime actress. She recently guest-starred on the sassy female driven “L.A.’s Finest” and will be appearing in the Season 2 premiere episode of “Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan”. Lidia also played a detective alongside David Harbour of “Stranger Things” fame in the nutty comedy mockumentary “Frankenstein’s Monster’s Monster, Frankenstein”
